There are many holidays and festivals. Dads have Father's Day. Children have Children's Day. Is there a special day for old people?

Double Ninth Festival is a special day for old people in China. It started long ago. The festival is on lunar September 9th. On this day, people show love to their grandparents.

People do many different kinds of things on this day. They enjoy flowers, eat special cakes and drink wine (酒).

It's very interesting. The best way to celebrate it is climbing hills or mountains. People think climbing will bring them good luck and help old people live long lives. Double Ninth Festival is also a good time for a family get-together. And young people give their presents and best wishes to the old.

    In my life, the person who has influenced me most is my father. He is a role model for me. Now I'll tell you something about him. My father is in his{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(fifty). He never smokes or drinks. He{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(work) in a local factory for years. You will not find anything{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(usual) about him until you learn more. He works{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(care) all the time, so he{#blank#}5{#/blank#}(respect) by his colleagues. My father has always been kind and helpful. He has fun{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(talk) with old people. He gave our TV to a family who could not afford one. He cares for the children who have lost their parents. Whenever he has some money left, he {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(give) it to someone in need.

    My father has donated blood many times since we{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(move) here. The blood he has donated is much enough{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(save) over 70 lives. He has donated blood cells to people with blood cancer. To my surprise, he has decided to donate his body for medical research after his{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(die).

    When I was a little girl, I could not understand why my father always seemed to be{#blank#}11{#/blank#}(kind) to others than to his own families and why he thinks of others more than{#blank#}12{#/blank#}(he). Now I realise that he owns a heart full of love.

On my thirteenth birthday, my father gives me a special present. It is a little bird, cute and colorful. She is not that 1 at first, but she then becomes a sweet part of my life. I look forward every day to playing with her. She means a lot to me, 2 a family member*. 

One day, she seems not quite herself and struggles* to fly. Dad tells me the vet* can surely make 3 better. So I bring the bird there, hoping she will be healthy soon. 4 she is more badly ill* than we can think. 

A few days later, comes the bad news and there is 5 we can do for her. At that moment, I know I 6 her and I can't stop crying. I cry all the way to collect her little body. When I walk into the vet, I see a woman with a little girl. After a short talk, it is clear why they are here. They lose their lovely dog. 

Then the vet brings my little bird and places it on the desk. I 7 . the body of my love with much sadness. When I turn around to leave, I am surprised to see that there is the 8 ,standing in front of me. She looks at me in the eyes 9 and asks me:

When I was young, Mother's Day was as special as Christmas.

You see, it goes both ways. The love you have for your mother comes back to you in a special way one day if you have children. Even if you are not living together, you will feel close to each other. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

Old Mother Wind was talking with the tall tree in the forest, "I've just passed by the grass, and there I saw the best thing in the world. "

They came across Old Mother Wind halfway home.
