My neighbour Mrs White is seventy，and she has a small car．She always drives to the shops on Saturday and buys some food．Her car is old．She drives slowly，but she drives well, and never hits(撞击)anything．Sometimes her granddaughter says to her,“Please don't drive your old car，Grandma．You are too old．We can drive you to the town．”But she always says，“No．I like driving．I have driven for fifty years，and I am not going to stop now．”One Saturday she stops her car at traffic lights when they are red．The lights become green，then yellow，then red again，but Mrs White's car can't start．“What am I going to do now?”she says．Then a policeman comes and says to her with a smile，“Good morning．You like all of our colours, don't you?”

    Many years ago, people use a stick, a large piece of wood and dry leaves to make a fire. Today, wood, gas (煤气) and electricity (电) can all make a fire. I think wood is the most dangerous. And I like gas most because it's easy.

    People use fire in many ways. At home, people use fire to cook food and boil water. In factories, workers use fire to melt (熔化) metals (金属) to makes things of different shapes. Some workers use fire to make glass.

    Fire can help us to do many things, but sometimes fire is dangerous. Cigarettes and campfires can all start a fire in the countryside, in schools and at homes. We must be careful. We mustn't smoke in the countryside, and we mustn't cook without an adult (成年人). We mustn't play with matches. We mustn't play around a fire.

    When Lucy was a little girl, she loved colourful pictures very much.

    Her mother often taught her to draw something on the paper. Then, when she was a little older, Lucy's mother gave her some pencils and a drawing book. She began drawing something by herself. When Lucy was 7 years old, her mother gave her a small board and some coloured pencils. She took Lucy to have art lessons in an art school. Lucy liked drawing very much and practised very often.
