山东省临沂市2016届九年级上学期英语期中统考试卷

补全短文,完成小题。

It has around 3 billion fans—nearly half the world's population!

And about 300 million people play this game. That's 4 percent of the world's population!

Many people in old days played the early form of this modern game. Cuju(蹴鞠), a ball-kicking game in China, was reported as early as 2, 500 B. C. . Around the same time in Greece, people were also playing a similar ball game without using their hands.

But modern soccer didn't become official(官方的)until 1863. An Englishman called Cobb Morley introduced the idea of a soccer association(联盟)From then on, other associations in the countries were set up. They came together—to make up the FIFA, which organizes the World Cup.

It's not easy to tell what makes soccer so popular. Soccer needs only two feet and a ball. This makes it a sport that developing countries can play easi- ly. Some of the sport's best players come from these poor nations .

The sport's no-hands rule makes beautiful dance—like movements on the field.

What's more, this sport excites the heart. Teams might score only a few times each match, so matches can turn around suddenly.

No one knows who will win at the next World Cup. But one thing is certain: The world will be watching.

A. He also wrote the sport's official rules.

B. Soccer is the world's favorite sport.

C. Soccer performances are pleasing to the eyes.

D. But one reason is how simple the sport is.

E. People love soccer as well as their countries.

F. It's hard to say where soccer's birthplace is.

Do you get angry easily? If you do, you need to control your feelings. Getting angry with people can make you{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(失去) friends easily.

Gary Egeberg, an American high school teacher, has written My Feelings Are Just Like Wild Animals to help you control your feelings. It tells you how to stay cool when something bad {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(发生) to you. The book says that getting angry only makes problems {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(更差的). It can never make them better. The book says you can control your anger easily—all you have to do is to tell {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(你自己) not to be angry. It also teaches you some ways to control your anger which are useful {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(足够的). Here are the top three.

Keep {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(日记). Every time you get angry, write down the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(原因)—why you are angry and what you are angry about. Look at it later and you will find it is not .{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(必需的) to get angry at all.

Tell your friends not to keep talking to you when you get angry. You can't always get {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (一起) with your friends. Sometimes, you need to be quiet.

Do something different. When you {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(确实) get angry, walk away from the problem and go somewhere else.

 阅读以下短文, 从每小题的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

Taking public transportation(公共交通) in the United States, you can often see people reading books on their way to school or work. But in China, I rarely (很少的) see people reading during their free time.

Are people's attitudes toward reading different here?Not really, Data (数据) released by Amazon China in December 2017 show that Chinese people still read a lot. They simply prefer e﹣books over regular books.

However, other data show that reading is still more popular in the US than in China. Is there a reason for this difference?I'm not sure. What I do know is that China has a rich history of literature (文学) (From classic novels like Romance of the Three Kingdoms(《三国演义》) to the modern science﹣fiction books The Three﹣ Body Problem(《三体》), Chinese writers have created many fantastic written works. Perhaps the difference starts from childhood. Reading textbooks and doing homework can make you feel quite tired. By the time you finish it, you might not fell like reading for fun. Chinese students definitely (肯定) have to read more and do more homework than US students. So it's no wonder that they might not want to read much in their spare time.

But learning to love reading can be great. Reading can open doors to places, people and ideas that you cannot imagine. Even just a single book has the power to change your own beliefs and attitudes. Where will your next book take you?
