An old man is sitting on the sofa in his house along with his son. Just then, a crow (乌鸦) stops on their window.

    "What is that?" asks the father.

    "It is a crow." answers the son.

    "What is that?" asks the father again after a few minutes.

    "Father, I just told you. It's a crow." the son answers again.

    "What is that?" asks the old father a third time.

    "Why do you keep asking me the same question again and again?  I have told you so many times 'IT IS A CROW'!" shouts (大喊) the son.

    After a little while,  the father goes to his room and comes back with his old diary (日记). He asks his son to read one page. The son reads the following words in the diary:

    "Today my 3-year-old son is sitting with me on the sofa. When a crow is sitting in the window, he asks me 23 times what it is, and, 23 times, I answer, 'it is a crow' I hug (拥抱) him warmly every time he asks me the same question, again and again."

    When your parents get old,  do not look them as a burden (负担), but be kind to them. Remember they are the people who always love you. Love your parents, please.

There was once a king who had a great palace with a wonderful garden. He was happier than1 else there. In the garden, there lived all kinds of animals. All of them enjoyed2 there.

The king was very happy with the whole garden except for3 old tree in the centre of the garden. It was 4 old and dry that the king hated it very much. Finally, the king ordered some people5 it down and turn the place into a swimming pool.6 after the tree was cut down, the animals left the garden. Without the animals, the garden was not as7 as before. The king was sad, but he didn't know what had happened.

The king was sad. This was 15 time he realized the importance of the tree. But all he could do was just to wait.

One sunny morning，a crow （乌鸦） flies to a wood （树林）.There，he sees a peacock （孔雀） sitting1 a tree.

"Hello，Peacock! It's nice to meet you，" the crow. says. "Can we be2 ? "

The peacock sees the crow and says， "3 ，my friends are all beautiful birds like me. We have nice feathers（羽毛） of different colors. But look at4 !The feathers are all black."

"My feathers may not be beautiful. But they5 me to fly far away，" the crow says.

"I can fly too，" the peacock says and then flies to the tree.

"Well，you are6 .But think about one thing﹣in7 ，what can you do with your beautiful feathers? Can you stay outside all the time when the8 is cold? What about me? My black feathers keep me9 .So I can10 fly around all winter. For me，friendship （友谊） isn't about what we look like，" the crow says and then flies away.

There is a photo on Becky's desk. It is a picture of her family. There are four people in it. The man is her father. He is 36 years old. He can speak Chinese. There is a woman behind Becky. She is Becky's mother. She is 35 years old. She can't speak Chinese，but she can speak English. They are doctors. They work in the same hospital. There is a girl in the picture，too. She is Becky's sister. Her name is Betty. Becky and Betty are in the same school，but they aren't in the same grade. They look like their father. They are American. It's a big family. 

For most people, graduation(毕业) is an exciting day. But my graduation day was not.

I remember that weekend two years ago. Family and friends had1 from across the country to watch our class walk across that stage. We had degrees, but very few job chances because of the 2 economy (经济). I knew that the next day I  3 school, I would no longer have a place to call home.

I turned my 11  feelings into a children's book—about a surprising hero who simply refused to 12 on his dream.

Then one day, without a writing degree or experience in the writing world, 13 a lot of hard work —I was offered a publishing (出版) deal for my first book! After that, things started to get 14 . I was 15 a second book deal. Then, a few months later, I got an interview with a big company and got a good job. 

It takes time, but just hold on — change can happen when you least expect it.

Although Lucy and Lily are twins (双胞胎), they are different in almost everything. Sweet food is Lily's favorite, but Lucy dislikes it. Lucy often gets up early, but Lily thinks it's terrible to get up early. Lily likes dark colors, but Lucy likes bright colors.

They often fight and think the other one is wrong. Today their parents decided to do something to help them. When Lucy and Lily closed their eyes, their parents brought them to the dining room. There was a big board (木板) in the middle of the room. Lily stood on one side of the board and Lucy stood on the other side. They couldn't see the other side of the board.

Dad asked, "What's the color of the board, my girls?" Lily opened her eyes and said, "It's black. " But Lucy said, "It's white. " Mom asked them to exchange their places. Then they found the other one was right.
