In order to know a foreign language thoroughly, four things are necessary. Firstly, we must understand the language when we hear {#blank#}1{#/blank#} spoken.. Secondly, we must be able to speak it correctly with confidence and without hesitation. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} ,we must be able to read the language , and fourthly, we must be able to write it. We must be able to make sentences that are grammatically correct.

    There is no easy way to success {#blank#}3{#/blank#} language learning. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} good memory is of great help, but it is not enough only {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(memorize) rules from a grammar book. It is not much use learning by heart long list of words and {#blank#}6{#/blank#}meanings , studying the dictionary and so on. We must learn by using the language. {#blank#}7{#/blank#}we are satisfied with only a few rules we have memorized, we are not really learning the language. “Learn through use” is a good piece of {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(advise) for those {#blank#}9{#/blank#}are studying a new language. Practice is important. We must practise speaking and {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(write) the language whenever we can.

    Volunteering to help people in need combined{#blank#}1{#/blank#}travelling to faraway places is {#blank#}2{#/blank#} new trend in the travel industry. It is called voluntourism. People travel to other countries, learn languages and other cultures and gain new{#blank#}3{#/blank#} ( experience ). Recent statistics show that in the past few years voluntourism {#blank#}4{#/blank#} ( be) one of the fastest - growing areas of tourism, More than 1.6 million people around the world are volunteers in other countries. They work in orphanages (孤儿院), help build schools, assist in hospitals and do farming work in{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (develop) countries. There are many reasons {#blank#}6{#/blank#} people want to engage in voluntourism, Students see it as a gap year after school, while others {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (simple) want to take time out from a job and do something else. However, some voluntourists do not see volunteering {#blank#}8{#/blank#} what it is. They only think it is a cheap way {#blank#}9{#/blank#}（travel）and don't really want to get{#blank#}10{#/blank#} （involve） in hard work.

    My first impression of Mrs. Li, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} kind and patient teacher，was that she was nervous and shy. But now，her characters and teaching styles such as explaining English grammar so {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (clear)， {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (avoid) making students feel stupid make the class like working {#blank#}4{#/blank#} her. Mrs. Chen，almost 60，is very strict. She's also very serious and doesn't smile much. Some of our classmates don't like her, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} most of us really appreciate her {#blank#}6{#/blank#} her teaching is so well organized and clear. Mr. Wu  {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (teach) us for two weeks and he's already very popular. The young teacher，about 28，has got so much energy that this is one class you do not fall {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (sleep) in！He's really amusing and tells jokes {#blank#}9{#/blank#}  he thinks we're getting {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (bore)．I respect him a lot.

    David was a normal boy, but he had been born deaf. He was well known to everyone in town, and they were all very fond {#blank#}1{#/blank#} him. Unfortunately, he always seemed to be treated {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (different) from everyone else.

    David didn't like this very much. But the person {#blank#}3{#/blank#} disliked this the most was his friend Michael, Michael decided that things had to change. So he managed to persuade other people in town {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (choose) one day of the festival for deaf people this year. During that whole day everyone in town would have to wear earplugs (耳塞). The day {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (call) The Day of Silence, and when it arrived everyone stuck plugs in their ears. As the hours passed, people began to realize {#blank#}6{#/blank#} difficult life was for the deaf. Soon no one was thinking of David as a deaf person. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (use) his usual gestures, David was the one who could communicate best with everyone. They were {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (surprise) at his ability to find solutions to almost any problem. They realized all David needed was a little {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (much) time than others to communicate. That was the only difference.

    It was on this day {#blank#}10{#/blank#} everyone realized they have to give people a chance to show how useful they are.

    Everybody in David's class packed their bags and got ready {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (go) home last Saturday. Usually David's mother would fetch him home but that day she was not there, so he walked home by himself.

    When he reached home, he knocked on the door as he didn't bring his keys. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (surprising), no one answered the door. He {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (knock) again when one of his neighbors {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (name) John called him. He told David his mother was out and invited him to stay in his house till his mother came back. David knew that if his mother {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (be) at home, she would have answered the door soon. So David went to John's house and played with him. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (stay) in John's house for a few {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (hour), David saw his mother come back. They thanked John and his family. It turned out that David's mother had {#blank#}8{#/blank#} serious backache so she had to see the doctor.

    {#blank#}9{#/blank#} this experience, David has learnt that neighbors are people {#blank#}10{#/blank#} help each other. The relationships among neighbors are like building a bridge and they will build a good bridge one day.
