Having a good teacher do mean a lot to us students and I am lucky enough to have the one —Miss Brown, my English teacher.

    Last Sunday, I accompanied two of my foreign friends, Tom or Mary, around Chengdu so that they could get a feeling of the amazed city. We began by touring Kuan Zhai Alley, that is known for its traditional Chinese architecture. I know the area very good so I acted as their tour guide. For lunch, I tried some Chengdu fried sauce noodles. Tom thought that they were in particularly delicious. Soon before lunch, we went to the Research Base of Giant Panda to pay a visit to the pandas. Both Mary and Tom fall in love with the lovely pandas. We finished off the day by going shopping, and they bought some paper cuts as souvenir. It was fantastic day and I hope they will come to Chengdu again.

    I witnessed a street accident today, that happened as I was waiting for the green light. Without hesitate, a woman nearby tried to help victims. However, a nurse came and said, “Excuse me, but I am a nurse and I can do it well than you. After all, I had taken a course in first aid. Stepping back, or I cannot work.” The women stepped aside and watched the procedure. Then she said, “If you need a doctor, and I'm just behind you.” The nurse turned and looked at the woman on surprise. Obviously, the nurse went red. Without saying any more, the doctor started to help. In my opinion, they were all responsible and great.

    In the summer holiday, we travelled to Qingdao and paid visit to my uncle there. It's a long and bored journey. But at the moment I arrived, I fall in love with the city. It's such beautiful a city that I can hardly find any word to describe it. The streets are clean and the sky is blue. If you walk along the coast, you can feel the wind blow on your face. The sea is vast and sometimes you can find a boat or a ship. You may also do some fishing as far as it is permitted. Moreover, I think the driver there drive too fast in the street. You can never be too carefully when crossing the street.

    As the saying goes, "Chance favored the prepared mind." I learned this from one of my experience.

    I was not chosen as member of the volleyball team of our school. Because of this, I decided to give up play volleyball. Luckily, my best friend stopped me but pointed out that it was my laziness and poor preparation which led to my failure. After that, I practiced playing volleyball on every day. When another tryout arrived, I was full prepared and tried my best. As a result, I was selected and became an important player on our school team.

    From this, I am firmly convincing that we are able to seize a chance as long as I get well prepared.

    Much to the students' joy, our school has put up a new building what consists of a library and a reading room. The reading room designing to contain 200 students is equipped with the Internet as well. Hope to develop the students' reading habit gradual, our school makes it a rule to read after school. Since it was opened up, many a student have come here to read every day. However, by the midterm exam approaching this month, it's a pity to see a big decrease in the number of the student compared with that of last month. If only we have no exams! In that case we can make most of our new building.
