No one is sure how many Americans belong to reading groups called book clubs. Yet{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (publisher) and bookstores report that more and more people throughout the United States are joining{#blank#}2{#/blank#} (they).

    Most of the clubs work the same way. Members read the same book at the same time. Then they meet to talk about the book. Members may be friends or people{#blank#}3{#/blank#} live near each other. Some Americans belong to reading groups on{#blank#}4{#/blank#}Internet. These groups include people around the world who communicate about books they read. They send electronic mails instead of gathering{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (discuss) books.

    Most reading groups study books by{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (variety) writers. However, some groups read the work of a single writer,{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (usual) one that has been famous for a while. Other groups may{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (name) for an important person in the work of the writer,{#blank#}9{#/blank#} a Sherlock Holmes Club. Members of these book clubs often are experts about their{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (choose) reading materials. One member of a Holmes reading group, for example, can identify almost every person in every Sherlock Holmes story.

    When I was in primary school, I didn't like going to school. I had {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (difficult) in reading and writing and I always could not answer the teacher's questions {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (correct). I cried a lot because I {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (laugh) at by my classmates. My parents would always get mad at me. I felt very upset and didn't have any interest{#blank#}4{#/blank#} study.

    But then one day, I decided{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (change) my attitude towards study. {#blank#}6{#/blank#}I ended up paying more attention in class and I started to practice my vocabulary and spelling skills. Also, I always {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (go) to my teachers to ask for help when I had any trouble. I started to do better in Grade 3. {#blank#}8{#/blank#}I was in Grade 4, I was still improving. By Grade 5, I had become the top student in class.

    Now as I am {#blank#}9{#/blank#} senior high school student, I know it might be difficult at first. But I like my past in primary school, I know if I keep working and don't give up I will be {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (success).

    25 people were killed and 50 injured on Wednesday in a train accident in Cairo, which surprised local people.     I've got a problem with my husband, Sam. He bought a smartphone a couple of months ago and he took it on our recent ski vacation to Colorado. It was a great trip except for one problem. He's so addicted to it that he just can't stand the idea {#blank#}2{#/blank#} there may be an important text. He can't help {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (check) even at inappropriate times like when we are eating in a restaurant and I am talking to him! He behaves {#blank#}4{#/blank#} any small amount of boredom can make him feel the need to check his phone even when he knows he shouldn't. The temptation to see {#blank#}5{#/blank#} is contacting him is just too great. When I ask him to please put down the phone and stop {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (ignore) me, he says, "In a minute," but still checks to see if {#blank#}7{#/blank#} has posted something new on the Internet. Our life {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (interrupt). If we go somewhere and I ask him to leave the phone at home, he suffers from withdrawal symptoms. Maybe this dependency on his smartphone has become more than an everyday problem.

    I recently read an article about "nomophobia," {#blank#}9{#/blank#} is a real illness people can suffer from: the fear of being without your phone! I am worried that Sam may be suffering from this illness {#blank#}10{#/blank#} he feels anxious if he doesn't have his phone with him, even for a short time.

    Who would have thought that little devices like these could have brought so much trouble!
