    I have a twin brother, Bob. He is taller than me. His hair is shorter than mine. Many people think we must have many things in common. But in fact this is not true. Bob is more outgoing than me. When my parents' friends come to our house, Bob often sits there and talks to them. But I often sit there and say nothing. Bob likes reading, cooking and drawing. I just like swimming and playing basketball. He has more hobbies than me, but he is not as athletic(擅长运动的) as me. Because Bob does better than me at school, my mom often says to me, “Bob is younger than you, but he can get better grades, you should learn from him.” We both like eating fast food and listening to music.

    My friends and I joined a two-day survival(生存) training course in the mountains. The first day was really1—there was so much to do! Arriving at the campsite, we were divided into groups and given a tent, some food, a2and a compass(指南针). Standing next to a small river, Fanny3 camping in the grassy area nearby. However, our instructor, Mr.Lee, pointed out that it might flood(淹没) if it rained. In the end, we found a4area. Putting up the tent was very hard.5Mr.Lee helped us a lot.

    By the time we had put up the tent,6was really hungry. "We wouldn't have got this hungry if we had brought some snacks." Peter said. We all told him to7complaining(抱怨) and help us start a fire to cook our food8. Realizing we were having trouble making the fire, he finally9.

    The next day started early. Woken by a strange noise. Peter went to see what was 10.

    "Some cows have eaten our breakfast!" he shouted. "That's all because you didn't11the food properly last night." said Mr. Lee.

    Worried that Mr. Lee was angry with us, we tried very hard on our next12— using the map and compass to find a secret location. We made it to the location13the other group did.

    We all felt very proud of14.

    The survival training course was a great15. Now I feel I could survive anywhere!

    Nick, 13, is tall and strong. He is good at running. Two weeks ago a new student came. His name is David. He is thin and short. He plays soccer well, and he can run very fast. Larry told Nick about it. Of course, Nick did not believe it.

    "Why not have a race with him?" said Larry.

    "Good idea!" said Nick. "I'll have a race with him after school."

    After school, Nick went to the playground. He did some warm-up exercises for half an hour, and got ready for the race. He was sure that he could win it. Larry had to take part in a club activity that afternoon, so he could not watch the race between Nick and David.

    That evening Larry went to see Nick. They began to talk about the afternoon race. Nick's grandmother heard them in the next room. She came in and asked, "Which place?"

    "The second place," answered Nick.

    His grandmother was very happy to hear that, and asked, "Which place did David win, then?"

    "The last but one."

Nick had a book in his hand and tears in his eyes. "What worries you, Nick?" asked Mrs. White. 

"Our teacher asked us to recite the p {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Little Jim. I don't think I can do it well." said Nick. 

"Why not?" asked Mrs. White. 

"My classmates said that I can't. And I myself also think so," said Nick {#blank#}2{#/blank#} a sad voice, "The poem is so long and difficult for me."

"Dear son," said Mrs. White, "look at that snail（蜗牛） on the wall. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} slow it is! {#blank#}4{#/blank#}watch it. You will see it get to the highest part at last. So just try a few lines each day, and you may recite it in the end."

"Well, then let me try {#blank#}5{#/blank#} best to recite it, Mom." said Nick. 

And he tried it. 

At last, the day came. To everyone' surprise, Nick did not m {#blank#}6{#/blank#} a word when reciting the poem to the class. And the teacher said Nick did best. 

"And now tell us how you could recite the poem so well." said the teacher. 

"I saw a snail climb up the wall little by little. It {#blank#}7{#/blank#} stop. At last, it arrived at the highest part. So I also recited the poem little by little, and did not give up." said Nick. 

"Well done, Nick!" said the teacher. "Now boys and girls, let us give a good c {#blank#}8{#/blank#} to Nick and the snail on the wall." The classroom rang with a great cheer.
