Technology is changing to suit people's needs. Of course, technology has also made life more complicated(复杂的) and some may say, led to bad effects. However, it is obvious that technology has made life better than before.

There's no doubt that technology has improved the standards of living. Machines can now do the heavier work which human beings find very difficult to do. Industrialization(工业化) has brought about large production, people can get goods at a cheaper

price, too. Technology has made every aspect(方面) of life more convenient:

computers have made work in the office more efficient and transport systems have

made travel cheaper and even more enjoyable.

Technology has also improved the quality of social life. The communication technology has brought the world closer, whether for business or for personal relationships.

Yet, even though it is true that life has improved with technology, life has also become more complicated as technology becomes more common in our lives. The use of the Internet has changed the way we communicate, socialize and do business, and thus exposed us to risks. As more business deals take place online, there is an increase in cybercrime(网络犯罪). And stolen data has become a huge problem for businesses and banks. Cyberbullying(网络欺凌) is also becoming more widespread today.

Still, technology has given us the means to a better life that was unimaginable. To say that technology does not make life better or even makes life worse is a totally wrong conclusion. There are also creative ways to solve the problems that technology has brought about, such as using laws and technology itself to solve the very problems it brings about. For example, some countries have introduced laws that control the use of online information to ensure personal safety is protected.

My dear boys and girls, good morning. Today I'm going to talk to you about my suggestions about how to become stronger.

As the high school entrance examination is coming soon, you might feel a bit worried or nervous. These feelings may make you stressed out and fail to focus on your studies. But think about it. Would your favorite superhero have these same feelings?

Scientists have been studying what they call the "Spider-Man Effect" (蜘蛛侠效应) in children. They've found that if kids imagine themselves as a powerful person—such as a super hero like Spider-Man, they won't feel so nervous and will be able to focus on their work.

For example, if you feel nervous during an exam, try to imagine that you are a Spider-Man. You may find that you can "remove" the stress from this situation and feel more confident. This can help keep you fight off bad feelings and focus on your task, just like a superhero would. Pretending to be a superhero makes us feel powerful and that will have an influence on how we act in real life.

But you don't have to always choose a superhero like Spider-man. Anyone you admire can encourage you to get through hard times, or remind you of how you should act in certain situations. Favorite stars, famous painters, even our own parents—anyone can be our "Spider-Man". For example, when it comes to how I communicate with others, I like to look toward my mom for inspiration. She is a middle school teacher who is always kind, thoughtful and brave. I try to act the same way like her.

Thanks for your listening. I hope you can find your own strength to deal with the difficulties in your life.

Have you ever noticed how,on a rainy night,all other sounds seem to disappear? The sound of the rain drowns (淹没) them out. And even though the sound of the rain goes on all night,it doesn't keep you awake. Rain is a kind of white noise﹣a steady and unchanging sound.

White noise is made up of sounds from all the frequencies (频率) a human ear can hear,with the sound at each frequency having the same power. It's called "white" because it is like that of white light,which is a mixture of all the light we can see.

You might think that a mixture of all possible sound frequencies would be terrible,but it's not ﹣ quite the opposite. The reason for this is that white noise covers other sounds. Think of it like the rain:the sound of one drop falling,like from a leaky tap (漏水的龙头),would be very different and hateful. Two drops would be the same. You could even tell three drops apart. But if there were 5 or 10 or 1,000,you couldn't pick out each drop. They'd all mix into a kind of quiet sound and probably lead you to sleep.

According to a scientific study,white noise can help treat different problems. It can help worried people sleep and help those who have headaches sleep through their pain. It can be very useful for people with attention problems,who have trouble telling background noise and can't focus on something well. White noise can help them pay attention to something. It can even cover the sound of conversations by doctors and others who want to keep privacy. Who would have thought that mixing lots of sounds together would actually turn out to develop peace and quiet?
