Many animals are in danger around the world. Here are some examples.

Jeff has a pet. It's a dog. It is white. Jeff likes it very much. He thinks the dog is very smart. It can play ball games and it can buy newspapers for Jeff. Every morning, Jeff puts one yuaninto the dog's mouth and it goes to the shop to buy newspapers for Jeff. 

Jeff has a good friend Mark. Jeff tells Mark about his smart dog. Mark doesn't believe it. Today, Mark comes to see Jeff in the morning. Jeff is playing with his dog. Mark says, "I will give your dog money. I don't think it can buy newspapers." "Have a try." says Jeff. 

Then Mark puts money into the dog's mouth and the dog walks out. After ten minutes, the dog doesn't come back. After an hour, the dog still doesn't come back. 

"How much money do you give the dog?" asks Jeff. 

"Five yuan."

"Well, if it has five yuan, it will go to the movies." says Jeff.

How to Communicate with Our Parents

Communicating with parents is one of the first things we have to do. So what should we do when communicating with them? Here are some of my ideas. 

Once upon a time, there was a huge crab(螃) living in the mountains

One day, the crab decided to return to the ocean. While he was moving to the sea, the whole earth shook.

An old man felt the land shake. He shouted loudly to his villagers,"We must build a raft(木筏)! Quickly! Quickly!

"Why should we do that?" asked one of them

"Because he is so massive that when he dives into the ocean, it will cause a flood!" The old man replied, "We must build a raft big enough to hold all of us and many animals!"

The villagers accepted his warming and began working together. Some of them cut down trees, while others were busy building the raft. After seeing what villagers did, the animals of the forest sensed that danger was coming so they joined in the work as well. The monkeys and the water buffalo wove(编) ropes, while the horses and the tiny mouse deer helped to pull trees from the forest. Finally, the old man tied one end of the rope to the raft and the other end to a big tree.

"What is that for?"asked a child.

The old man smiled, "This will help us find our way home."

Finally, the raft was ready. Not long after, this big crab completed his journey and jumped into the sea! Suddenly, the huge waves flooded the land. The villagers and animals climbed onto the life raft, which was swept away by the rushing water. People and animals were all in fear!

But the raft suddenly came to a stop because of the rope which was tied to the tree. People and animals hugged together for warmth. They sang to keep their spirits when they floated(漂浮) on the raft

The crab finally settled on the sea bottom. Soon after, the sea level returned to its original position, and the passengers found themselves back on land. Both humans and animals were happy to be alive! They turned to the old man, "Thanks for saving us by getting us to build a raft!"

But he smiled, "Oh, it was not me that saved you. We worked together-the men and women and children, and the animals too. When we work together, there's nothing we can't do."

You love reading，but you've read all your books four times，and are tired of reading the same ones. You're planning to go to the library，but don't know what kind of books to get. With the right knowledge，it's easy to choose a good book!

Answer these questions first. What authors do you like？Research books by the authors you've enjoyed，and you can get more of the same type of books. What are your interests？Type your hobbies into your library catalog search. By doing this，you will find books that you might like. Is there a type of book you would like to try？If there is，search the book and read the summary. This will help you decide if the book is right for you. 

Search your house next. Often good books are quietly collecting dust in your own house. Maybe you forget about one，or someone who is living with you has a couple of good books. Also by searching your house，you can find some books that you can read，and they won't even cost you any money. 

Then，ask someone to recommend a good book. You can ask your older brother or sister，your mom，your dad，your best friend，or even your English teacher. Local bookstores often have wonderful recommendations. And when they get to know you，it's even better！ You should ask people who like the same type of books，so that you can get books that match your need. 

 Join a book club，please. Being a book club member is often a way to experience new books with other members. Joining a book club or setting up a book club helps you know who else likes the same books as you，and you can read books that others have read and discuss them. 

Finally，read the first part of each book. Of course，if you have many books，this can be time-consuming. Reading the first part of a book can help you know what books and types of books that you like，and you won't have a hard time looking for books again. 

Skate boarding, surfing and sport climbing were parts of the 2024 Paris Olympics. But they made their first Olympic appearance at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. These are all popular sports among young people. Would you like to give them a try?
