On 15th December 2009, China began to build a bridge tolink Zhuhai, Hong Kong and Macao. People finished building it in July 2017. Itis the world's longest sea-crossing bridge! The Y-shaped bridge is about 50kilometers altogether. 36 kilometers of it is over water. Officials say thebridge we use can last in good condition for 120 years. It can handle(承受) big earthquakes aswell as strong winds. And it will be all right even if it is hit by a 300, 000-tonship. With six car lanes(车道), a car can go as fast as100 km per hour on the bridge. It only takes 30 minutes to drive from Zhuhai orMacao to Hong Kong. Some people worry that the building of the bridge maypollute the sea and hurt sea animals. Officials say they will protect the ocean. The bridge can bring the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao closer. Building thebridge cost about ¥73 billion. Hong Kong, Macao and themainland can share the cost.

Skate boarding, surfing and sport climbing were parts of the 2024 Paris Olympics. But they made their first Olympic appearance at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. These are all popular sports among young people. Would you like to give them a try?
Skateboarding | In this sport, you ride on a skateboard and perform tricks. Some people skate on or over obstacles (障碍) such as stairs and rails. It's a sport that celebrates creativity and individuality (个 性) . There are about 11 million active skateboarders in the world. |
Surfing | Isn't it cool to ride breaking waves? Surfing is a free-spirited sport that allows you to"walk on water" with a surfboard. Surfers have their own language. "Surf's up!" means the surf is high enough to ride. "Wipeout!" means to fall off your board. |
Sport Climbing | Athletes have to climb a 15-meter-high wall. There are holds on the walls, but some of them are just big enough for a single fingertip. Climbing needs great strength, requiring the use of different muscles. Athletes can't see the wall before they compete. They must make quick decisions about which way they should take to reach the top. |
