Riding a Mobike on the street, you might hear people speaking Chinese aloud.  After walking into a store, it's possible that you'll see Huawei smartphones for sale. This isn't referring to China, but Manchester, UK. Indeed, Chinese products have gone global.

  But to meet local people's tastes, Chinese restaurants have made some changes to the dishes. "One example is the meat", said Yin Hang, who is studying at the University of Wollongong in Australia. "We like to eat meat with the bone in, but people here don't. So Chinese restaurants provide big pieces of meat without bones, even for fish. "

  In many cities in Europe, stores sell TCL televisions, Haier fridges and Lenovo computers, reported Reuters. More than half of US-owned drones (无人机) are Chinese models, according to China Daily. They're not simply made in China, but designed and developed in the country.

In the past, most Western people thought Chinese products were cheap and unreliable. But things have changed greatly. " For example, Huawei, one of China's major smartphone makers, overtook Apple in global smartphone sales for the first time in June and July last year," noted consulting firm Counterpoint Research.

A. Many Chinese brands (品牌) are also becoming more popular.

B. Chinese food has been enjoyed in Western countries for a long time.

C. "Made in China" has become cool and more people trust Chinese brands.

D. Meanwhile, international brands are still enjoying great success in China.

E. Turning to the right, you may see a Sichuan-style restaurant.

F. In fact, you might see similar things in many other cities around the world.

G. What is the biggest problem with many Chinese brands?

    I had an experience once which taught me something about the ways people made a bad situation worse by blaming themselves. One January, I officiated (主持) at two funerals for two elderly women.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}At the first home, the son of the deceased (已故) woman said, “If only I had sent my mother to Florida and gotten her out of this cold and snow, she would be alive today. It's my fault that she died.” At the second home, the son said, “If only I had not insisted her going to Florida, she would be alive today.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} It is my fault.”

    When things don't turn out as we would like them to, we tend to assume that had we done things differently, the story would have had a happier ending. Any time there is a death, the survivors will feel guilty. Because the course of action they took turned out bad, they believe that the opposite course, for example, keeping mother at home, would have turned out better.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    There seem to be two elements involved in our readiness to feel guilty. The first lies in our belief that the world makes sense—there is a reason for everything that happens.

    The second is the thought that we are the cause of what happens, especially the bad things that happen.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}A baby comes to think that the world exists to meet his needs, and that he makes everything happen in it. He wakes up in the morning and calls the rest of the world to its tasks.{#blank#}5{#/blank#}When he is hungry, people feed him, and when he is wet, people change him. Very often, we do not completely abandon that childish thought that our wishes cause things to happen.

A. That long airplane ride was more than she could take.

B. After all, how could it have turned out any worse?

C. Life and dead is an unsolved mystery.

D. The roots of this feeling may lie in our childhood.

E. He cries, and someone comes to attend to him.

F. Both died a natural death.

G. They believe that they are responsible for what has happened.

    How old is "old"? {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Two hundred years ago, you were old at 35. That was the average life then. At the turn of this century, as medical knowledge advanced, the average life span(长度) increased to 45. In 1950, 70-year-olds were really old. Today, a healthy 70-year-old is looking forward to many more active years.

    So, how old is old? The answer is one you've heard many times, from all sorts of people. "You are as old (or young) as you feel!" The calendar(日历) simply tells you how many years you have lived. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

    Once an unknown author wrote," {#blank#}3{#/blank#} Nobody grows old by living a number of years; people grow old by giving up their goals."

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Alice Brophy, when she was with the New York City commission for the Aging, said, "It upsets me when people say, 'Gee, you look young for your age!' What does that mean? Is there some model that you're supposed to look a certain way at 65 and 75 and 85? You know you can die old at 30 and live young at 80"

    There are many wrong ideas about aging. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Here are some of the more common ones. For example, most older people are in poor health, or older people are unable to change.

A. It's extremely terrible to be grown old.

B. Youth is not a time of life but it is a state of mind.

C. These ideas stereotype(固化) people on the basis of age.

D. Old is a point of view.

E. Older people are stubborn, unable to change.

F. The answer has changed over the years.

G. Your body tells you how well you've lived.

    It takes faith to live by principles, especially when you see people close to you get ahead in life by lying, cheating, indulging, manipulating, and serving only themselves. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

    Take the principle of honesty. If you're a big liar, you may be able to get by for a while, even for a few years. But you'd be hard-pressed to find a liar who achieved success over the long haul. As Cecil B. DeMille observed about his classic movie The Ten Commandments, "It is impossible for us to break the law." {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Unlike all the other centers we've looked at, principles will never fail you. They will never talk behind your back. They don't get up and move. They don't suffer career-ending injuries. They don't play favorites based on skin color, gender, wealth, or body features. A principle-centered life is simply the most stable, immovable, unshakable foundation you can build upon, and we all need one of those.

To grasp why principles always work, just imagine living a life based on their opposites —a life of dishonesty, loafing, indulgence, ingratitude, selfishness, and hate. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

    Ironically, putting principles first is the key to doing better in all the other centers. If you live the principles of service, respect, and love, for instance, you're likely to pick up more friends and be a more stable boyfriend or girlfriend. Putting principles first is also the key to becoming a person of character.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#}In whatever situation you find yourself, ask, "What is the principle in play here?" For every problem, search for the principle that will solve it.

    If you're feeling worn out and beaten up by life, perhaps you should try the principle of balance. If you find no one trusts you, the principle of honesty might just be the cure you need.

A. Decide today to make principles your life-center, or paradigm.

B. What you don't see, however, is that breaking principles always catch up to them in the end.

C. Everybody has his principle

D. Principles Never Fail.

E. I can't imagine any good thing coming out of that.

F. We can only break ourselves against the law.

G. Law is inseparable from our life.

    Improving your lifestyle can seem like an unachievable goal. Changing everything about your life all at once is probably not realistic, but there are lots of small changes you can make to enjoy your life more. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Before you know it, you'll have the lifestyle you've always wanted!

    Eat healthy. You may be flooded by all of the appealing diets, but eating healthy is really not all that complicated Try a variety of fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats. Avoid salty foods, added sugar, and fatty foods as much as possible. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Fruits and vegetables are thought to increase feelings of positivity, while fats and sugars are linked to feelings of depression.

    Exercise. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. Try to include at least 150 minutes of walking or 75 minutes of running or dancing into your weekly schedule. In addition to improving your physical health, regular exercise can also decrease symptoms of depression. Staying active is much easier if you find an activity that you enjoy. Try several new sports or exercise classes until you find something you really want to do. Having an exercise friend can also help keep you on track.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. If you are overweight, there are a few really easy things you can do to lose a few pounds, which can add up to major health benefits. Try keeping healthy snacks like fruits and vegetables in your house for those times when you get the urge to eat between meals. You should also try to be aware of your motivations for eating. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} like going for a walk.

A. Take simple steps to lose weight

B. Stick to a healthy diet for losing weight

C. Start small by making one or two changes at a time

D. Your diet can also have an effect on your mental health

E. Regular exercise is an important component of a healthy lifestyle

F. If you eat because you're sad, try finding other ways of handling the feeling

G. Although eating out with your friends costs you much, it is completely for exercise

How to gain happiness? Aristotle, a famous Greek philosopher(哲学家), believed that happiness is achieved through the development of certain virtues, stressing a balanced lifestyle. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

Balancing Personal Strengths and Relationships

Aristotle combined virtues like modesty, honesty, and sociability into one principle: balance knowing yourself with getting along with others. Modesty(谦虚)involves recognizing both your true strengths and weaknesses clearly. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Honesty means being true in your expressions. Sociability stresses the necessity of making and keeping friends.

Managing Emotions and Actions

{#blank#}3{#/blank#}. Aristotle said it's normal to feel emotions like anger, but the key to happiness is how you handle these feelings. Justice(公平)involves treating others fairly and balancing one's needs with the needs of others. Strength involves facing fears and carefully considering risks before acting, which helps you achieve your goals confidently.

Practicing Kindness and Tolerance(宽容)

Generosity, tolerance, and grace are virtues that Aristotle considered to be part of kindness. Generosity isn't just about giving things to others, but also about doing so thoughtfully. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Grace combines a sense of humor with the seriousness required in certain situations, helping to keep a pleasant and supportive presence around others.

{#blank#}5{#/blank#}. He teaches us that happiness is not just about seeking pleasure or avoiding pain, but about developing a balanced character. By developing these virtues and finding a balance in everything we do, we can lead truly happy and satisfying lives.

A. Aristotle stressed the importance of knowing oneself

B. This principle combines self-control, justice, and strength

C. Such realistic self-view makes you more confident and happier

D. Tolerance involves excusing others' mistakes while keeping self-respect

E. In short, Aristotle's approach to happiness is about finding balance in life

F. Here's a simple explanation of his ideas designed for high school students
