Our views towards life change over thetime. When I was around five years old, I was in a car accident. At that time,I did not realize the seriousness of it and how lucky I was to still be alive. As I look back to think what happened on that night, I now realize how lucky myfamily members and I were to not have gotten serious injuries.

The day of the accident started outgreat. My brother, Troy, and I had spent the night before at JoAnn's house, with Heather, and JoAnn's husband Gary. The next day we spent playing insidethe house, because it was cold, windy and rainy outside. At night, JoAnn toldus we were going out and that where we were going was a surprise. The five ofus climbed into an old car, and we set off for our surprise. It was still cold, windy, and raining cats and dogs outside when we left. Troy, Heather and I satin the backseat together happily. The next thing I knew was that everything waschaos (混乱)! The road was so slick (滑的) that the car lost control. Glass was flying everywhere, and itsounded like there was noise all around us. Then it was totally quiet, exceptfor the sound of the rain and wind. Troy, Heather and I were all lying on topof one another. The three of us were crying, not knowing what had happened.JoAnn and Gary were trying to calm (使平静) us down andkept asking us if we were all right. Luckily, none of us was injured, just afew cuts. After that I only remember sitting there in the cold, dark nightwaiting for Gary to get back with people to help us. We never got to thesurprise that night. But at least we were able to go home in one piece.

After my brother and I got home thatnight, I remember my parents let us stay up as long as we wanted to. I guess myparents were realizing just how close they came to losing us that night. As Ithink of the tragedy (悲剧) that could havehappened on that night, I realize how precious (宝贵)life is. I treasure my family and friends, and hope that we will share aloving, caring, and rewarding lifetime together. Things seldom go the way Iplan them to, but I take a deep breath, try to laugh, and make the best of it.

(1)、Did the accident happen at night?
(2)、What was the weather like when the accident happened?
(3)、How did the accident happen?
(4)、What was the writer doing when Gary asked for help?

 阅读下列短文,从下面每小题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。

The next day, Peter came, feeling very angry at the changes. Heidi was always busy with the strange new child. All summer long Heidi hadn't played with him. And today she was coming at last. But again, she would come with this stranger.

Then, Peter saw the wheelchair. He carefully looked around. Then he pushed it down the mountain. He felt a little worried and afraid so he ran away and hid himself in a bush.

Just then, Heidi came out of the house. Her grandfather and Clara came next. Not seeing the wheelchair, Heidi's grandfather decided to carry Clara to the top. As he was getting ready, he wondered why Peter was late.

To their surprise, when they arrived at the top, they saw Peter lying on the ground.

Grandfather put Clara down on the grassland and then went home. The three stayed there. Heidi remembered the place with many flowers. She wanted to take Clara there. She called Peter to help. Peter went to Clara unwillingly. Heidi asked him to help raise Clara from the ground on one side. Heidi helped on the other.

With the encouragement of Heidi, Clara tried a step and soon another. "Oh, Heidi,I can do it! Oh, I really can! Just look! I can take steps!" she said happily.

Heidi cried happily, "Oh, Clara, can you really? Can you walk? Now you can walk, Clara,"

Peter arrived home late that day. He saw many people talking around the wheelchair. What if they found out the truth? A policeman might arrive. They might take him away to prison. Peter's hair stood on end at this thought.

The next morning, Peter admitted his mistake. Clara's family forgave him. What Peter had done turned out to be the greatest good for Clara.
