On June 26th, 2000, two scientists, called Francis Collins and Craig Venter, told the world that they could now read the whole “map” of the human body: DNA. DNA is something that all humans have, and it tells the body what to do. DNA is the reason that we look like our mother and father, because we get some of their DNA to make our own. Now we can read some of this “map”, and so we can find out more about how our bodies work.

People have been trying to understand the human body for a long time. In 1860, Gregory Mendel discovered that there is a special reason why we look the same as other people in our family. It is because of small things called “genes” that we have in our body. In 1953, James Watson and Francis Crick made another discovery and found out that those small parts are really messages written in the DNA with a special language.

In 1961, Marshall Nirenberg and Johann Matthaei found the first “word” that they could understand in that language, showing how DNA tells the cell to build its parts. This meant that one day we would be able to read all the messages that a human body gets from its parents' bodies. Scientists have now found all the words in DNA map, but we still do not understand what they all do. By understanding what just one “word” means, we can help save people from several diseases. So the more we understand, the more doctors will be able to do.

Most people hope that this will help to make better medicine and help people who are very ill. Other people worry about that when we learn more words and find out lots of other information, we still use it in the wrong way, just to make people more attractive, or stop sick people getting jobs.

Do you feel lonely when your best friend isn't around? Here's our advice to you—and to all kinds who feel lonely sometimes.

It's hard when a best friend isn't around—maybe because he or she moved to a different school or a different class. You may feelleft out during break(间歇)or lunchtime. You want to make new friends, but how do you find them? Maybe it seems like everybody else already has his or her own friends. But remember, there's always room for more friends.

Start by looking around your classroom—think about which kids you'd like to play with during break. Look for chances(机会)to say hi to them, smile, and be friendly. Offer(主动提出)to share something or express(表达)your appreciation(欣赏)to them. Invite someone to play with you or say "Do you want to sit here?" in the lunchroom. When you're at break, walk over to kids you want to play with, act(举止)friendly, and say "Hi, may I join you?" or just join in.

If you have trouble(问题)doing this or if you're feeling shy, ask your teacher to help you make new friends. Teachers are usually pretty good at matching(相配)people up. The best way to make friends is to be a friend. Being kind, being friendly, sharing, saying nice things, offering help—pretty soon, you'll have one, or two, or even more new friends.

You might still miss that special best friend. But when you see each other again, you can share something you didn't have before he or she left: You can introduce him or her to your new friends!

Script Murder (剧本杀), also known as the mystery of murder, is gaining popularity among young people. A guest in the party secretly plays the role of the murderer without the knowledge of others while other guests, as players, need to find out the murderer through investigating (调查) and reasoning. In recent years, this game has gradually become a top choice for parties in China.

There are two ways to play Script Murder, that is, online and offline. Most of the scripts provided by online apps are free; only a few high-quality scripts need to be paid. Players play role-playing games in a network "room" while offline stores usually set up scenes exactly the same as script settings. Players live in a "room", performing stories through language, expression, conversation, body movements and so on. This game often takes about 4 to 6 hours in total.

In fact, murder-inspired board games, card games and party games have been around at least since the so-called golden age of British crime fiction in the 1920s and 1930s. The enduring popularity of these games presents a mystery of its own: What drives people to spend an evening investigating fake cases and hunting for "murderers"?

One simple explanation might be curiosity (好奇心). When he's playing Script Murder in particular costumes, one feels like he's in that world. But that is not the full story. Instead, murder games follow a surprisingly complex set of psychological (心理的) rules, which can be educational and help people develop important thinking and acting skills.

"People are considering the games as a way to simulate threatening plots (模拟威胁情节) and then play around with how they would react to it." Coltan Scrivner, a behavioral scientist, says, "After all, real-life violent (暴力的) crime is every person's worst nightmare."

Nowadays, natural disasters(灾害) happen from time to time around us, such as earthquakes, wildfires and typhoons.Here are some things about wildfire.

Wildfires are unexpected and unplanned.And the cause of most wildfires is unsure.To burn, wildfires require the right conditions — fuel, oxygen and heat.And global warming is one of the most important reasons.The high temperatures and dry conditions make the fire spread quickly.

In many parts of the world, wildfires happen naturally.They are started by lightning(闪电) or some other special weather conditions.In recent years, there have been more wildfires because of dry, hot weather, and changeable weather patterns.

However, many wildfires are started by people.Sometimes, people clear land for farming.Besides, there are smokers who accidentally set fires.

Wildfires can cause a lot of smoke, which will pollute the air.Lots of lives, property(财产) and valuable forests will soon disappear in wildfires.When trees are burnt down, and heavy rain follows, more disasters such as terrible floods will happen.

What Jobs Are We Going to Need?

People have to work. They need jobs. What fields have jobs? The most important thing is that we need to know what jobs {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(need) in the future?

The medical field is going to need {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(work). In 2010, there were 524 million people over the age of 65 in the world. In 2050, the number of older people will be three times{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(big) than before. We need nurses and other medical workers to care for them. We also need family doctors. Family doctors have to work for many {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(hour). Because of this, not very many medical students study to be family doctors. In addition, there are jobs for medical researchers. They do research and develop new medicine and technology {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(help) people. Businesses want to sell this medicine and technology to people {#blank#}6{#/blank#} need them.

Another popular field is the computer field. It is a field with different kinds of jobs. Some people, like IT managers, help people in schools, hospitals, and companies {#blank#}7{#/blank#} they have computer problems. Other people design and create new technology. For example, 20 percent of people in the world have  {#blank#}8{#/blank#} smartphone. This is a phone that can do the same things computers do. More and more people {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(use) technology, so businesses are always designing newer computers and phones {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(quick).

What do these jobs have in common? People need the help of these workers. This is why these fields are growing. When there is a need, there is a job.
