    The cheongsam is a female dress with distinctive Chinese features and enjoys a growing {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (popular) in the international world of high fashion. The name "cheongsam", {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(mean) simply "long dress", entered the English vocabulary from the dialect of China's Guangdong Province. In other {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(part) of the country including Beijing, however, it is known as "qipao", which has a history behind it.

    After the early Manchu (满族) rulers came to China, the Manchu women normally wore a one-piece dress which came to be called "qipao". {#blank#}4{#/blank#}the rule of the Qing Dynasty was ended in 1911, the female dress survived the {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(politics) change and, with later improvements, has become the traditional dress for Chinese women.

    I felt butterflies in my stomach when I started calligraphy class ten years ago. I wondered what I was doing there. At that moment, I couldn't have known that I'd just made one of the best{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(choose) of my life.

Stroke(笔画)by stroke, word by word, I could feel their emotions, cherished my own peace and learned{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(appreciate) my daily life.

    Now, calligraphy is not just{#blank#}7{#/blank#}hobby, it is a way to remove myself from the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (worry) of life. Rolling out the paper, I can write for a whole day. Calligraphy {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(able) me to balance my busy schedule and live{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(peace).
