My grandfather is fifty-five years old. He's a taxi driver. He loves his job very much. It is Sunday. Today is his birthday. My father, my mother and I are in his home. My uncle also comes here. He's a tall man. He's a worker. He comes to see my grandfather every Sunday. My grandfather has a good friend. His name is Jim. He's from England. He's a nice cook. He comes to see him, too. My grandfather is very happy today.

    Today is a sunny day. John is going on a school trip. Now he is packing some clothes. Look, this is John's bule jacket. These are John's black pants and those are his white socks. Whose T-shirt is that? Oh, it's John's brother's.

Saturday, July 23   Sunny and hot

    Bill's family took me to Xidan today. It's a famous shopping centre in Beijing.

    We went to Xidan Bookshop first. Bill's father bought some books for me. He bought two English books about China and one English-Chinese dictionary. I am happy because now I can learn more about China and also learn more Chinese.

    Next we went to a big shopping mall. First I bought a lovely toy panda for my cousin. I also bought silk scarves for my mum and Tina, and a silk shirt for my dad. Then Bill took me to a special kite shop. There were so many beautiful kites. Bill bought me a kite that looks like a bird. Bill is going to teach me to fly it tomorrow.

    Last, we went to a restaurant. We ate delicious Beijing duck there. I really like Chinese food.

Questions:

    One day, Alice found(找到) a book in the study. It was about clowns(小丑). She loved the story and she told her mum all about it. "Mum, I want to be a clown now," Alice said. "Well, let's make a clown!" Mum said and pointed to a big box. Inside the box, there were lots of old clothes and paints.

    First, Alice painted her face white. Then she painted her mouth yellow. Next, she put on her red nose. After putting on a red nose, Mum gave Alice a silly wig(假发), a polka dot(带原点的) jacket and large trousers(长裤). She also gave Alice big black shoes. "Now go and look in a big mirror(镜子), Alice," Mum said. Alice looked at her face and clothes. She laughed and said, "I am a clown now."

    Tim has a black cap. He likes it very much. Amy's shoes are red. The sweater is Jack s. And it's green. Mike has got a new coat. It's really warm. The pants are Sally's. She has got them on her birthday.

Hi. I'm Mary. I'm an English girl. I'm 1. 45 metres and 40 kilograms. I study in Beijing. I have many Chinese friends. My best friend is Lili. She is 1.6 metres and 50 kilograms. Last weekend we went to a park together. We went boating and then we saw a film. We were very happy. I like Beijing very much. I love my friends.
