Hangzhouhua (杭州话)：use it or lose it
   There are about 6.000 languages in the world and some experts say that as many as half of these languages will disappear(消失) in the next one hundred years. Will Hangzhouhua be one of {#blank#}1{#/blank#} ? It's a {#blank#}2{#/blank#}  that more people are asking.
   In China, Putonghua is the official language. That {#blank#}3{#/blank#}  it's the language of government, business and the media (媒体). And it's also the language that is{#blank#}4{#/blank#}  in schools.
   Hangzhou is a special city. It used to be the capital of Wu and Yue States in the 10th century during the Five Dynasties period. Now it is modern, fashionable and also beautiful. And Hangzhouhua shows that by being modern, fashionable and beautiful.
   Young people still speak Hangzhouhua but not as {#blank#}5{#/blank#}  as their parents and grandparents. They are under more and more pressure to speak Putonghua. So the language is being used{#blank#}6{#/blank#}  often in everyday life. Some people want to keep the language from disappearing completely {#blank#}7{#/blank#}  building museums and having cultural festivals to save it. But a language isn't a painting {#blank#}8{#/blank#} a book. It's a living thing and you {#blank#}9{#/blank#}  use it or lose it.
   If people {#blank#}10{#/blank#}  using it in their daily lives, a museum or a festival will not help. It will be lost forever, like the Yangtze River dolphin.

An old man lived alone in his old house. He hardly ever went out．He wouldn't {#blank#}1{#/blank#}with others．One day， a little boy setting{#blank#}2{#/blank#}knocked (敲)at the old man's door .The door slowly opened. The boy suddenly had an idea．He had a dog sculpture， which did not mean much to{#blank#}6{#/blank#}．After a while，the boy returned{#blank#}7{#/blank#}a box．The old man shouted this time．"I told you no magazines!""I bring you a girl．"The boy {#blank#}8{#/blank#}the box and handed him the sculpture．The old man got{#blank#}9{#/blank#}because no one had given him a gift before．From that day on，the old man started going out of his house often．He and the boy because good{#blank#}10{#/blank#}．The boy even brought his pet dog to visit me old man every week．

    There once was a man who played the piano in a bar. He was a good pianist People went there just to hear him play.But one night,a customer{#blank#}1{#/blank#}told him he didn't want to hear him just play any more.He was{#blank#}2{#/blank#}to sing a song by the customer.

    “I don't sing,”the man said.The customer said to the boss;“I'm{#blank#}3{#/blank#}of just listening to the piano .I want that guy to sing!”

    “Hey,buddy!”the boss {#blank#}4{#/blank#}across the room.“If you want to get paid,sing a song!The customer is asking you to sing!” And the other customers were {#blank#}5{#/blank#}to see what would happen.

    So he did.He sang a song.A{#blank#}6{#/blank#}who never sang in public did so for the very first time. What's more,Nat King Cloe sang the song,Mona Lisa,in a very special way.That was the {#blank#}7{#/blank#}time the song ever sounded that.
