Two men were travelling together through the forest on a lonely path. Before the travelling, they said they would help each other when there was danger. They had not gone far when a bear rushed towards them from some bushes.

One man was a good climber, and quickly climbed up a nearby tree. The other man tried to climb the tree but failed. Looking at his friend in the tree, he shouted loudly for help. The man in the tree was afraid that his friend under the tree would pull him down, so he didn't give his friend a hand.

The man under the tree, seeing that he had no chance alone against the bear, fell to the ground and pretended to be dead. The bear came nearer and nearer. It made his blood run cold.

The bear came to him, lowered its great head, smelled him all over and touched him with its nose. The bear thought the man was dead, so it went off into the forest again without hurting him. After the bear left, the other man came down from the tree, and smilingly asked his friend what the bear had said to him. "For I could see," he said, "that he put his mouth close to your ear."

"He told me to tell you," replied the other, "that you were a great coward(懦夫), and that it is dangerous to travel with a friend who leaves you behind when there is danger."

Why is work good for health? It is because work keeps people busy away from feeling lonely.  Researches show that people feel unhappy and worried when they have nothing to do. The happiest people are those who are busy. Many high achievers who love their jobs feel they are the happiest when they are working hard. They work as a bridge between their dream and reality, so they have energy every day. By working, people get to know each other. By taking part in all kinds of activities, they find friendship and warmth. This is helpful to health. The loss(丧失) of work means the loss of everything. It makes people down and it will cause more illnesses.

Besides, work makes one feel hopeful and proud. When a writer finishes his writing or a doctor successfully operates on a patient or a teacher sees his students grow, they are very happy.

My First Day

I remember her name is Mrs Simpson. Her voice sounded really sweet. Moreover，she was more  {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （幽默的） than any other teacher in our school.  {#blank#}7{#/blank#} （也许） she was my dream teacher at that time. 

Sports Day 

Sports Day was the best day of the year!I used. to take exercise with my friends after school. My {#blank#}8{#/blank#} （业余爱好） is running，so I took an  {#blank#}9{#/blank#} （积极的） part in the running race and I won he third prize!But I haven't won a better prize {#blank#}10{#/blank#} （还、尚）. 

Who is the greatest teacher in Chinese history? Many people will think of Confucius, whose birthday was September 28. Although he lived over 2,000 years ago, people still remember and respect him for his contribution (贡献) to the education today.

Confucius lived in the Kingdom of Lu, which lies in Shandong Province. He lived during the Spring and Autumn Period. He had a hard childhood. His father died when he was only 3. His mother brought him up. As a child, he had to work to help his mother, but young Confucius didn't give up studying. He visited many famous teachers and learned music, history, poems and sports.

Later, he became a teacher and started the first public school in Chinese history. At that time only children from noble families could go to school, but Confucius believed everyone should go to school if they wanted to learn. He had about 3,000 students in his lifetime.

Today, people still follow Confucius' lessons. He told us that we all have something worthy to be learned. "When I am with three people, one of them must be better than me in some areas. I choose their good qualities and follow them."

He also taught us that thinking is very important in study. "All study but no thinking makes people puzzled (困惑的). All thinking but no study makes people lazy."

Confucius is not only a great teacher, but also a famous thinker with wise thoughts about the world and society. His most important teachings are about kindness and good manners. "A person should be strict with himself, but be kind to others." he said.

 How do you feel about junior high?

I love my junior high school life. It is a new {#blank#}1{#/blank#}for me. I have many new friends. We often study and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} sports together. There are also a lot of interesting {#blank#}3{#/blank#} at school, such as sports meets and music festivals. All of {#blank#}4{#/blank#}can share the joy through them. Junior high life is {#blank#}5{#/blank#}interesting. What about your junior high?

Abel Baxley is a seventh-grader at Bulls Middle School. He's not strong or {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(英俊的), but in his school almost {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (每个人) likes him.
