Last summer,Cathy's whole family went to New York City for their summer vacation. They stayed there for two weeks.

New York City has more than seven and a half million people.{#blank#}1{#/blank#} It is also the home of the United Nations.

First they visited the Statue of Liberty. The Statue of Liberty is one of New York's most well-known places.{#blank#}2{#/blank#} On the second day they went to the Empire State Building. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}From the top of the building, they saw most parts of New York. On the third day they visited the Metropolitan Museum.{#blank#}4{#/blank#} During the rest time of the week, Cathy went to Bronx Zoo with her younger brother and sister. There they were glad to see a lot of their favourite animals-tigers, lions, monkeys, and elephants.

{#blank#}5{#/blank#} On the island, they spent most of their time swimming sunbathing and playing on the beach. They all had a good time.

My favourite teacher is Mr Zhao. He has made {#blank#}1{#/blank#} big difference in my life.

On my first day at school, I was  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (real) shy and nervous. But Mr Zhao was {#blank#}3{#/blank#} kind that I soon forgot about that. In his class, he asked us {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(draw) a picture of ourselves. When he got to  {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(I) desk, he looked at my picture and said, "Wow! I like those bright {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(colour)! That's great!" I felt {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(relax) at once.

Mr Zhao is patient and he always  {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(tell) us not to worry about giving wrong answers. Also, he shows us how to learn {#blank#}9{#/blank#} our mistakes. Now I am in the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (nine) grade, and I'm leaving school. I will remember all the suggestions he has given me.

One of my earliest memories is playing "shops" with my granddad when I was 5 years old. After 1 school at 15, I worked in a fruit shop, but I had no 2 of how to run my own shop back then. 

Several years later, I got married. My husband Eric and I heard about a shop for sale in the nearby village. We had a look and decided to have a shop of our own. That was January 1973. Shopkeeping was 3 to us, so we often didn't know what the 4 were asking for. But we soon learned. 

We can tell by the weather how 5 the shop is going to be. On wet days there are very few people around, and when it's 6 people want bread and milk, as they're worried about being snowed in. When it's hot, everyone buys cold drinks and ice cream. 

More people shop online nowadays, but they still come here for things 7 from their order. I've kept up with technology and have a card reader, but the shop itself hasn't changed much. 

Now, as I'm getting older, it's open from 7 a. m. to 6 p. m. on weekdays 8 closing at 8: 30 p. m. However, I keep it open until 2 p. m. at weekends. 

Eric passed away 16 years ago, but I am 9 getting rid of (处理掉) the shop. I love it all—talking to the customers and getting 10 they want. There are customers who come in two or three times a day, and we see several generations of families. Customers often tell me their 11 and I offer advice if I can. 

It was the 50th anniversary (周年纪念) of the shop on January 13 this year. I wanted to do something 12 , so I held a party and had drinks and nibbles with customers. I also 13 a book about my memories in the shop. It's called Just Ask Jenny, as I'm always the first port of call when anyone wants to know 14 .

This shop has been my life. I never 15 I'd still be here after 50 years, but I love it and the people. It's what keeps me going, and I've got no plan of retiring (退休).

Travelling is not always happy, at least for the buddies in the movie Green Book. The popular film won Best Picture at the 91st Academy Awards on Feb. 25. 

The movie was adapted from the true story of a road trip through the southern US in the early 1960s. In the film, the black pianist Don Shirley hires Italian- American Tony Vallelonga to drive him to performances, but they face problems because of Shirley's skin colour. These problems lead them to form a special friendship. 

"There's something so deeply right about this movie, so true to the time," wrote US film critic Mick LaSalle. The time LaSalle is talking about was between late 1870s and 1960s, a very different period in US history. Many parts of the country had Jim Crow Laws (《吉姆·克劳法》) , which allowed racial segregation (种族隔离) . These laws made life and travel ____ for African- Americans. They couldn't use certain hotels, restaurants, or even gas stations. They had to be indoors after sunset or they might be put into prison. Even black celebrities (名人) had to follow the laws. 

But in 1936, a black mail carrier named Victor H. Green had an idea. He made a list of friendly businesses in New York City. He published the list as a small book with a green cover. The Green Book helped African- Americans travel more safely. Then, in 1964, Jim Crow Lawswent away. The book went away, too. 

Today many US people still remember the time of Jim Crow. But they probably don't know about the Green Book. It's a forgotten part of the story. Thanks to this movie, maybe people can remember it again. 

My hobby is reading. I read storybooks, magazines, newspapers and many {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(kind) of things that I find interesting. 

I started this hobby {#blank#}2{#/blank#}I was a little boy. At that time, I always wanted my parents {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(read) stories to me. At first, they read stories to me every night. Soon they got{#blank#}4{#/blank#}  (bore) with reading to me. So when I could, I learned to read. I started {#blank#}5{#/blank#}some simple ABC books. Soon I could read some simple stories. Now I read any- thing that I can get. 

Reading is a good way for {#blank#}6{#/blank#}  (I) to learn about many things. I learned about how people  {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(live) in the past. I learned about the space travel, big animals like whales, and many other things in the world. 

The wonderful thing about reading is that I do not have to learn about things in the hard way. 

For example, I do not have to go to the forest to learn about wild tigers. I can read all about them in{#blank#}8{#/blank#} book. 

Books provide {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(read) with a lot of information and facts. They have certainly helped me in my {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(day) life. 

It's not often that two problems add up to one solution, but Mr Than Tun Win has made it happen. His programme LessWalk takes the problem of wasted shared bikes and turns them into an easy way for students in Myanmar to travel a long way to school. 

In the last few years, companies of shared bikes began taking up streets. But it didn't take long before there were too many bikes. Some companies went out of business, leaving behind thousands of new shared bikes. 

Mr Than Tun Win realised that these bikes could do good for students in Myanmar: Some of them travel an hour or more on foot every day to school. " If they spend less time on the way, they can have more time to study and have better chance to find good jobs, " he said. 

Soon Mr Than Tun Win raised around $400, 000 and bought shared bikes and shipped them to Myanmar. It wasn't easy — there was much work in moving the bikes from one country to another. 

Though LessWalk began in March 2019, the programme has brought 7, 200 bikes into Myanmar that year. Mr Than Tun Win hopes to bring in 100, 000 bikes and expand(扩展) the programme to Laos and Cambodia.
