As Ginni Bazlinton reached Antarctica, she was greeted by a group of little Gentoo penguins (企鹅) who seemed happy to say hello. These lovely penguins welcomed and started a trip that Ginni would never forget. 

Ginni, now 71, has had a deep love for travel when she was young. As a professional dancer she travelled around the UK, but always hoped to find more. When she retired from dancing,  ★ 

After taking a degree at Chichester University in Related Arts, Ginni began to travel around the world and found a job teaching English in Japan and Chile. It was in Chile she discovered she could get a cheap ticket going to Antarctica from the islands off Tierra del Fuego, "I just decided I wanted to go." she says. "I had no idea about what I'd find there and I wasn't nervous. I just wanted to do it. And I wanted to do it alone as I always love it that way."

In March 2008, Ginni boarded a ship to begin the journey to Antarctica with 48 passengers. "From seeing the wildlife to enjoying sunrises, the whole experience was wonderful. Antarctica is better than any other place," Ginni says. "I remember the first time I saw a humpback whale (座头鲸): it just rose out of the water like some prehistoric creature (生物) and I thought it was smiling at us. You could still hear the beautiful sound it was making underwater."

The realization that Antarctica is a valuable and important land which needs to be respected (尊敬) by humans is the biggest thing for Ginni.

The octopus(章鱼) usually has eight legs.But Ollie, the octopus, has only seven ones. Ollie's mum always feels 1 about it.

At home, Ollie's brother and sister 2 her. "Ollie has only seven legs so she is not our family," her sister Olivia says. But it isn't true. 

"Go away. I don't want to play with 3 ." her brother Oscar tells Ollie.

Ollie is really sad. She swims away and starts 4 . Then, a sea fairy(仙女) comes out, " Don't cry, little octopus, "the fairy says. "You can make three wishes."

Ollie thinks for a minute, and makes the 5 wish. "I hope my mum can always be happy." She says.

 "OK. Now you have two more wishes." the fairy says.

 "I hope Olivia can be honest(诚实的). And I hope Oscar can be 6 ."

 "You are so kind, little octopus. I 7 you all the best." the fairy says and swims away.

When Ollie gets home, her mum gives her a big smile. 8 Olivia and Oscar say "Come and play with us, little sister." Ollie is happy. Her wishes 9 .

On Ollie's birthday, she makes a wish for the 10 leg. The next day, she has the same number of legs as her sister and brother! Great!

Tony and George were painting freely. Each of them had a bottle of blue paint(油漆) and a bottle of yellow paint. 

Suddenly George said, " Look, Tony, I made green!"

" How did you do it?" asked Tony. 

"I put yellow paint on top of my blue paint- yellow and blue put together make green!" shouted George. Other children came around to watch and wanted to do it themselves. 

This is an example of discovery learning or hands- on learning. 

People remember things better when they learn them by doing. Here is an example. How will you learn to play football?

Buy a book and read about how to play football or buy a video about football? Or go to the playground and ask a person to teach you?

Which way will help you learn the game best? Learning on the playground is the best way for most people because they try the game and learn the rules as they play. They learn in a hands- on way. 

Hands- on learning is good for children. The learner takes an active part in it instead of just sitting and listening. This is the way that we want our children to learn. In order to learn best, children must take an active part in hands- on activities every day. Some good examples of hands- on activities are working puzzles, painting, playing simple board games together and so on. 

Do you know Wang Yaping? She is my favorite star. And she is my{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(sister) favorite star. too. We love her{#blank#}2{#/blank#}she is the first woman space walker in China. 

She{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(have)a six-year-old child,but she is still working in space. This time she works in space for about 180{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(day). 

Wang was born in January, 1980 in Shandong. When she was a student, she loved running{#blank#}5{#/blank#}playing basketball. She often played basketball{#blank#}6{#/blank#}some classmates after school. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (she) space dream(梦想) started in 2003 when China sent the first taikonaut(中国宇航员) Yang Liwei into space. 

In 2013, she gave China's{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(one) space class. In 2021, she gave us a second space class, Wang Yaping's class is{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(interest)and exciting. After taking the class,my sister and I loved space better. Now we have{#blank#}10{#/blank#}same dream. We want to be a taikonaut like her. 

Riding bikes is becoming more and more popular all over the world. Many people like riding in their daily lives. The following are some students' ideas about it:

◆ Lily: Having a night bike riding in a big city is really good for us. When we're riding around the city, we open our eyes. Many people travel by bike. They say travelling by bike gives them a chance to see the world differently. 

◆ Tom: If you live in a city full of cars, a bike can help to save your time. You don't need to pay different kinds of vehicle taxes (车税). It helps you save money. 

◆ Peter: It's good for the environment. You should just start from yourself, do something to reduce air pollution and keep the air clean. Then try to ride a bike to school or to work. 

◆ Mark: Now, we are so busy that we often don't have time to exercise. Riding can give us the chance. It is good for our mind and body. 

Do you think it's your turn to live a safe, happy and healthy life now?

Tom, Jim and Ted are cousins. They study in different schools. They usually go to the countryside to see their grandparents on weekends. 

Their grandparents have a farm. Every weekend, Tom, Jim and Ted go to the farm to see their grandparents by bike. They meet at Tom's home on Saturday morning and start at 2:00 in the afternoon. They take a lot of food and drinks such as bread, water, eggs, bananas and so on. 

After three hours, they get to their grandparents' farm. Their grandparents are happy. On Sunday, Tom, Jim and Ted help with the farm work in the morning. They keep the chickens and water the vegetables. At noon, their grandmother always cooks fish and many vegetables for them. She cooks well. Jim didn't like vegetables in the past (在过去). But now, those vegetables are so nice and he likes them a lot. In the afternoon, their grandfather teaches them to fly kites. Their kites fly high. What an interesting country life! They all have a wonderful weekend.
