Dear past humans,

I am writing to you from the future, a time beyond (超越) your imagination. I want to share with you what our world has become and how it is different from the one you live in.

Firstly, let me tell you that we have made unbelievable progress in many 1 . Medicine has developed to the point where we have found ways to deal with almost every illness that once 2 pains and troubles. We have learned to use clean, reusable energy and have 3 our bad influences on the environment greatly. We have also made big progress in AI (artificial intelligence) and space exploration (探索), allowing us to 4 the mysteries of the universe (宇宙).

However, although we have all these things, our world still faces many 5 . The difference between rich and poor has grown 6 and many people are still poor. Climate (气候) change has caused many natural disasters and 7 many people to leave their homes. And while our efforts on artificial (人工的) intelligence are proved (证明) to be a big step 8 , we must be careful to make sure that it does not cause harm to human beings.

But perhaps the most important thing I want to share with you is that we have realized the importance of being 9 . We have come to understand that our actions and decisions have an important influence on others and on the planet we call home. We are working together to build a more reasonable fair world where everyone has 10 to get things they need. I hope that you can take these to heart and fight for yourselves and the future. The choices you make today will have an influence on your children. Let us work together to build a better tomorrow.

Yours sincerely,

A future human

Kathy: Betty, how was your holiday?

Betty: Not bad. I was just staying at my grandma's home.

Mike: Where does your grandmother live?

Betty: My grandmother lives in the countryside. This place can let me relax and study at the same time.

Kathy: I agree with you. The countryside is quiet and lets us slow down our pace of life(生活节奏).

Mike: What have you learned during your holiday?

Betty: I've learned something about language learning. It is very important for us. And I searched for some information on the Internet. I found that Hong Kong held a meeting about language learning and teaching in July, 2024.

Kathy: About language learning and teaching?

Betty: Yes. Experts(专家) from all over the world came to Hong Kong for the meeting. They talked about how technology(科技) can improve language learning.

Mike: That sounds so cool. Technology is developing very fast. We all need technology every day, like mobile payments and online shopping.

Kathy: You're right. I think technology is also very helpful to our language learning. For example, we can learn some things beyond books through the Internet.

Betty: I had a pen friend that holiday. She has helped me a lot with my spoken English. We have kept in touch on the Internet.

Mike: After listening to your sharing, I also want to make a pen friend.

Betty: Haha. What about your holiday life, Mike?
