There are seven chickens at my home. I gave them all names and they are my good 1 . You may think that taking care of chickens is 2 , but sometimes chickens have minds of their own. If you show interest in keeping 3 , there are a few things you need to know.

Everything has its order. Chickens 4  have the pecking (啄食) order. The order goes from the strongest, biggest chicken to the smallest, 5  chicken. And it is the ranking (排位) of all the chickens. The chickens 6  this order on their own. Putting chickens together is not easy. You have to make sure they all eat the same food. Otherwise, you have to keep 7  apart.

You must pay more attention to baby chicks. You need to give very good 8  to them, so they can stay 9  and become immune (免疫的). You also need a 10  for them to stay in your house and a special feeder and water holder. 11  you take good care of the chicks, you can get day-old chicks. Also, you should remember to 12  the pen (鸡圈)，so neighbors don't complain (抱怨).

You just have to know what you are doing and always be prepared. Chickens can bring families 13 . They can make family members happy. They are fun and humorous, beautiful and loving. They are also smart. It's amazing how 14  they learn things on their own.

So why not consider 15  some of your own feathered (有羽毛的) friends?

This is a story of a man who works in my factory. I have seen him for years, but I didn't know him very well. He was a little bit weird (怪异的). He always wore an old red hat and carried a rubbish bag. He seemed to have no friend, and was always alone. He usually spent his break time and his lunchtime walking around in the factory and collecting used tins (金属罐). Maybe he was too poor, I guess. But I didn't care much about him.

One day, I was fixing one of the broken machines in the factory when this "tin man" came with his bag. As usual, he picked up the tins, which were all around the place. My manager was standing there, watching me.

When I finished my job, I heard my manager ask the "tin man" about what he was going to do with those tins he had collected. I never even thought about this kind of question, because I always assumed that "tin man" would take those tins to the recycling center.

Unexpectedly, the "tin man" answered, "I will give these tins to my neighbor. He has been ill for many years and cannot work. He is too poor to buy daily bread now."

I was so shocked to hear that, so I asked him, "You mean you collect all those tins just to help your neighbor?"

"I know this does not help much," he said. "But I give everything to him, because he cannot work. He needs help."

It was the most beautiful moment in my life. We are all able to help others no matter we are rich or poor. It has made me feel humble (谦卑的) every day since then.

You can't see this school on any map of New Delhi, India. There are no desks {#blank#}1{#/blank#} chairs for the students here. There {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (be) only a blackboard and three walls. Rajesh Kumar Sharma opens (开办) it.

Sharma is forty-nine years old. He is from a family of eleven. No one in {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (he) family goes to university (大学). He opens the school {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (help) poor (贫穷的) boys and girls go to school. Any student {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Grade 1 and Grade 9 can study here. Now there are about 200 {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (student) in the school. They don't have a classroom, but they are happy in the school. Look! They {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (have) classes near flowers and trees now.

*Don't be afraid- of making mistakes. People often get things wrong. Good language learners don't worry about making mistakes. {#blank#}2{#/blank#},they learn from them.

* Do group activities. People use the language {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (communicate) with others. A good language learner always {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (look) for opportunities to talk with others.

* {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(take) notes every day.Write down just five to ten new words and phrases each day. Review {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (they) from time to time.

* Practice {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (speak) daily. Speak to real people, if possible. 'They can be your teachers or friends. But if you have nobody to speak to, you can watch films and repeat what the actors say.

* Spend some time {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (think) in the language you learn. A good first step is to think in words.Try to name each object around you.Then think in simple sentences. {#blank#}9{#/blank#}example, if you are sitting in a park, you can say, "It's such a beautiful day." Then you can move to think in conversations.Imagine yourself {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (talk) to someone else. You are asking the questions and thinking of replies(回答). The secret to developing a habit of thinking in the language is doing it every day, over and over again.

Cindy is taking a trip around Italy（意大利）. Now, she gets a call from her 1 in London.

"Cindy, are you having a 2 time?"

"Yes, Grandma! Italy is so beautiful !3 , I'm going to visit the Leaning Tower of Pisa (意大利比萨斜塔)."

"Oh, dear! It's not good to eat only a 4 for breakfast. You5 to drink some milk too! It's important to eat well. "

Hearing6 words, Cindy laughs（大笑）. She says, "Oh, you mistake(错认）Pisa for pizza（披萨）, Grandma! Here, the Leaning Tower of Pisa(比萨斜塔）is a building(建筑）, not something to 7 ! "

"Haha! That's funny!"Grandma also laughs, "Dear, be sure to take some 8 of it. I'm going to send(发送） them to my friends. Have9 ! Bye!"

Cindy says 10 to Grandma and goes on her trip. 

My Favourite Story

My favourite story is about Sima Guang. 

Once upon a time, there was a wise man {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(call) Sima Guang. One day, some{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(child) played hide- and- seek (捉迷藏) in the garden. While they{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (have) fun, one of them suddenly fell {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a big jar (缸). The big jar was full of water. The child was {#blank#}5{#/blank#} danger. The other children didn't know what {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(do). They shouted for help,{#blank#}7{#/blank#} there were no adults (成年人) around. Sima Guang was very smart. He used a stone (石头){#blank#}8{#/blank#}(break) the big jar while the child was shaking in the jar. The water ran out of it and the child was safe in the end. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the adults knew that, they felt happy for his intelligence (才智).
