As I held my father's hands one night, I couldn't help but notice their calluses(老茧）and roughness. His hands tell the story of his life as a 1 , including all his struggles.

    One summer, I remember, a drought (旱灾）hit Ontario,turning it into a 2 desert.On one og those hot mornings I was picking sweet corn with my dad to fill the last 3 from the grocery store.Fifty dozen was all we needed, which normally took twenty minutes. That morning, however, the process didn't 4 quickly. After forty minutes of aimlessly walking in the field, we still needed twenty dozen. I was completely frustrated and 5 . Dropping the basket heavily, I declared, "If the store wants its last twenty dozen, they can pick it themselves. "Dad 6 ."Just think, my little girl, only ten dozen left for each of us and then we're 7 ." Such is Dad—whatever problem he 8 , he never gives up.

    Unfortunately, the bad effects of the drought were felt all over our county. It was a challenging time for everyone, 9 Dad remained optimistic. He 10 to be grateful for other things like good health and food on our plated. Only then did I truly begin to appreciate dad and his faith that guided us through the hard times.

    Dad is also a living example of real 11 . From dawn to dusk, he works countless hours to 12 our family. I used to hate scary films. I didn't understand 1 some people wanted to scare 2 on purpose. But now I love them. Sometimes I watch them by myself; sometimes I watch them with my sister. 3, I will have a cushion(靠垫) nearby to 4 my face especially for bad parts, but I still enjoy watching them. As a 5, I have to watch something "happy" afterwards to take my mind off them,

    Watching scary films is 6 going on a roller coaster(过山车). Many people ride it for the 7 that comes from being scared without actually being in 8. As I am truly scared of the roller coaster, watching scary films is my way of 9 this. And it is interesting, especially 10 it is a film you haven't seen before.     12 I saw a film called The Strangers by myself. In the film, a group of people with scary masks(面具) attacked(攻击) a couple's house. 13 some reason I had to keep stopping the video and doing 14 else, like checking e mails or reading a bit of my book. It took me five hours to finish seeing the film. It's hard to believe, isn't it?

    Scary films make me 15 but excited, I know I will continue to scare myself.

    This was a very interesting story. I 1 thousands of classes since I started school nine years ago. But one class was 2 of all.

    It happened last term just after I had got a bad result in 3 exam. I was sad and had lost my confidence. I decided 4 to a class 5 can tell me how to be successful. The speaker walked into the room. 6 he did not start talking like a teacher. Instead, he held up a twenty yuan note!

    "Who wants this?" he asked. Unsurprisingly, 7 of us in the class held up our hands. The speaker smiled. Then he put up the note on the blackboard and asked the same question. Again, we put up our hands. The speaker kept 8, but said 9 . Suddenly, he threw the note onto the floor! Then he asked the same question for  10time.

    I didn't understand the speaker. Why was he asking the same question again and again? I didn't know 11 to do. I wanted the note, so I put my hand up again. "You have all just told me how to become successful." He said to us 12 the note in his hand. "The note is worth twenty yuan. It is always worth twenty yuan, even though I throw it on the floor. You are like the note. No matter what happens to you, you still have your worth."

    Hearing those words, I 13 deeply. Suddenly, I realized I was worth a lot. I may have failed, but it doesn't mean I 14 do well in the future. If I believe in15I will be successful!

We have a colorful life at school. There are different {#blank#}1{#/blank#}of activities, such as football, baseball, swimming and cycling. As for me, I like swimming best. My father is a PE teacher. When I was a child, I often {#blank#}2{#/blank#}swimming with him. We enjoyed ourselves in the swimming pool. We both thought it was fun. Dad taught me {#blank#}3{#/blank#}to swim. I kept practicing swimming every day and I learned a lot from {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. 

I think doing sports is good {#blank#}5{#/blank#}me. I joined the school swimming club. {#blank#}6{#/blank#}I finish my homework, I often go swimming with my friends, and it helps me {#blank#}7{#/blank#}many new friends. The feeling is so great, and it makes me much {#blank#}8{#/blank#}than before. I can {#blank#}9{#/blank#}do well in my study now, and my teacher says I am a good student. 

I want to be a famous swimmer when I grow up, and I hope I can have a {#blank#}10{#/blank#}to take part in the Olympics. I will try my best to make my dream come true. 

Sam is an eight-year-old student. He can't always have fun at school,1 he doesn't like his school. He is good at all his2 , but he doesn't have friends. Sam is not happy about that.3 a Saturday morning, Sam sees a big tree. 

A small blackboard is in 4 tree. It says, "I am a magic(有魔力的)tree. Say the right words to me and then I can 5 you."

Sam says many words but they are not useful. The tree6 say a word. At last, he says, "Please, dear tree! Thank you!" The tree says, "Sam，say7 more(更多) and then you can be happy."

After that, Sam often 8 "Please" and "Thank you" at school. His classmates think he is nice and they all want 9 his friends. Then Sam asks many of his classmates to come to his 10 birthday party. They all have a good time.
