Garry Golden is sharing his ideas with some university students.

Golden is a futurist(未来主义者) . Futurists are scientists who study(研究) the world today and use that information to make predictions about the 

future.Some futurists study the environment.Some study human society(人类社会), Golden studies transportation(交通运输).

Golden says there will be fewer cars in cities in the future.

Golden says. "We have to build lots of parking lots (停车场) for cars, but having so many parking lots is not efficient . Much of the time the 

parking lots are empty (空的). Golden says cities will make new laws(法律)to limit(限制) the number of cars in the future.

"Buses have the same problem as parking lots,"Golden says. "Sometimes they are full, and sometimes they are empty." Golden says in the future 

people can use phones to send messages(信息) when they want to take the bus. And buses can change (改变) their ways to pick(接) them up.

"Traffic is a big problem for cities today," Golden says."But there are so many things we can do to improve it. I believe that in thirty years we will live in a very different world."

Cruises are becoming more and more popular, with around 20 million passengers per year now enjoying holidays on board luxury (奢侈的) ships. More people see a cruise as the perfect way to sit back and do nothing, and enjoy time off work. But what is the effect (影响) on the environment of this trend? 

Although it usually takes less energy for a vehicle to move through water than over land, cruise ships are often very big, with the biggest ones carrying up to 6, 000 passengers. Moving such large vehicles requires huge engines which burn as much as 300, 000 litres of fuel a day. One scientist has calculated that cruise ships produce as much pollution as 5 million cars going over the same distance. Because they are out at sea, they also burn dirtier fuel that isn't allowed on land. Unfortunately, no government has control over the amount of air pollution out at sea. 

Cruises also produce huge amounts of rubbish, and cruise ships aren't usually good at recycling. Waste water from showers and toilets is usually poured directly into the sea—as much per day as from a small town. Waste food from restaurants isn't put into the sea, but still causes problems when brought back to the land. 

Cruise ships also cause difficulties in the cities where they stop. Popular destinations can get five or six ships per day, with thousands of tourists at a time. Good for restaurants? No. Restaurant owners complain that the visitors look around for a few hours and then return to their ship to eat. What's more, the crowds can put off other tourists, who complain that the streets are too busy. Some towns have banned cruise ships or put a limit on the number that can stop at the same time. People who care about the environment worry that as the cruise industry continues to grow, so will the issues for our planet.

Lijiang River is on the back of 20- yuan RMB. It is near Guilin city in Guangxi, south of China. On the back of 50- yuan RMB is the Potala Palace(布达拉宫) in Tibet. It is a typical building in ancient China. On the back of 100- yuan RMB is the Great Hall of People (人民大会堂) in Beijing. It is for many important meetings every year.

Do you know Guinness Book of World Records(《吉尼斯世界纪录大全》)? It tells us the fastest and the strongest people in sports, the strongest and the shortest people or buildings, the fattest and the thinnest, the best and the worst in the world. All the records in the book are all true. 

Are these records boring? Of course not. It is a wonderful book and it has world records for everyday things. For example, the largest picnic blanket(野餐毯) is 1, 760 square meters. The heaviest lemon is 5, 265 kilograms. The smallest working dog is about 3 pounds, and it is only a little heavier than twelve eggs. 

There are some funny records as well. A T-shirt was made to set a record. It's about a hundred times bigger than an usual T-shirt and it took almost 11, 000 hours to make it by hand. The most people for watching a basketball game is 3, 589 million(百万) for NBA in 1998. 

Guinness Book of World Records is so interesting that it is a hit among the best-sellers. There are over 100 million copies(册) around the world. If you want to take a look at it, get one and find out those surprising records！

A park, a bus stop, and a coffee shop... These are the favorite places for {#blank#}1{#/blank#} children to   hang out (闲逛). US students have short school days, and their parents often work for long  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} . So they have a lot of free time to hang out. Sometimes, they sit on the grass in the park and talk with each other. Sometimes, they just watch people {#blank#}3{#/blank#} from the streets and do nothing.

 Is that a waste(浪费) of time? Maybe it is. I wasted a lot of time when I was a child! But it was fun. It {#blank#}4{#/blank#} me with my observation skills(观察力). Also I always want to learn something new.

 Now, I exercise a lot in my free time. I am also learning {#blank#}5{#/blank#} things, drawing and IT. These hobbies make me an interesting person.
