A father and his son went out for fun. The son was very happy when he saw so many {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(kite) in the sky. He wanted {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(fly) a kite too. The father then bought a kite {#blank#}3{#/blank#}him. Several minutes later, the kite {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(be) high up in the sky. The son said, "Dad, the string(线) is stopping {#blank#}5{#/blank#}kite from flying higher. Can we cut it?"The father did so and the kite {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(start) to go higher. This made the boy excited. But soon, the kite began to come down and {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(final) fell(落下) to the ground. The son asked, "Dad, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} does it fall down?" The father said, "The string stops the kite from going higher, but helps {#blank#}9{#/blank#}stay in the sky. When you cut the string, it cannot support (支持) the kite any more."

Sometimes we may think something stops {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(we) from moving forward. But in fact(事实上), it might be the thing that supports us the most.

There is a famous house in a village. In the house, there are 1000 mirrors(镜子). A happy little dog knows about this place and 1 there. When he gets there, he runs 2 to the door. He 3 the house with a big smile. Then he sees 1000 happy little 4 smiling. When he leaves the house, he thinks," This is a 5 place. I will come back."

Life is like a mirror. When you smile at it, it will smile back at you.

Last Friday, my friend Deborah asked me if I would like to learn how to make tofu. I couldn't think of any good reason not to be interested in, so I said: "Yes". So the next day I met her and other three nice people and went to Hodo Soy Beanery in Oakland, I enjoyed the trip. And I learned a lot from the trip. The following is what I learned.

Tofu has a history of 2,000 years. Although the word "tofu" is from Japanese, the food may come from China. There are two main kinds of tofu: soft tofu (软豆腐) and firm tofu (硬豆腐). In some parts of Asia (亚洲), people use tofu as a kind of meat.

Douhua is one kind of soft tofu. It is a popular breakfast food in China. Because it is very soft, people can't eat it with chopsticks, but with a spoon. People often eat it as a dessert (甜点) and often add spring onions and sauce (酱油) to it. In Malaysia people usually eat douhua with white or dark sugar water.

A boy helped save the life of his friend from choking(窒息) in the dining hall at school while having their lunch there. Many people watched the video of the accident on the Internet. 

In the video, the new student Jackson just got a seat and ate his chicken sandwich. Suddenly the food stuck(卡住) in his throat and his face turned red. Hunter Olsen sat across from Jackson. He thought that Jackson was just joking and laughed at it along with his friends. But soon it became clear that Jackson was really choking and tried to cough the food out. He pointed to his throat to tell Hunter that he was not playing. Hunter realised that he had to do something and used the Heimlich manoeuvre(海姆利克急救法). Finally, Jackson coughed the food out and could breathe again. 

Ms Howa, who taught them the Heimlich manoeuvre during her health class, said she couldn't believe her ears when she heard what happened. But she was over the moon to know that her student put what she taught into practice.She was so proud of Hunter. 

Hunter said he wasn't interested in Ms Howa' class because he thought he would never use it in his life, but her great teaching helped him know what to do when in trouble. Then he said, "I just thought that doing something was better than doing nothing. "

Helen: Hi, Tom. I called you at 10 o' clock in the morning but you didn' t answer the phone.

 Tom: Sorry, Helen, I was playing tennis with my sister Mary. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

 Helen: I had a problem with my maths homework.

 Tom: {#blank#}2{#/blank#} . He is good at maths.

 Helen: {#blank#}3{#/blank#}.

 Tom: Did you solve the problem at last?

 Helen: Yes. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}.

 Tom: Great! {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

Ma Wenbo, a nine- year- old boy, saved his family and people next door out of a fire on December 18th.

"I noticed the strange smell at about 10 o'clock {#blank#}1{#/blank#}night. I got up and ran towards my father's room. When I opened the door, my father {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (sleep). I woke him up immediately," Ma said.

Ma's father got up {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (quick) and ran out. However, he made a mistake — he went back to get {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (he) phone. He soon found he couldn't get out.

Luckily, Ma was able to run out. He {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (knock) on other people's doors and stopped a car. Then he asked the driver {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (call) firemen. The firemen arrived in just a few minutes. They saved Ma's father and two {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(woman) on the fourth floor. In the end, all 18 people in {#blank#}8{#/blank#}building were safe.

Ma's father was proud of him. "He did some training about fire at school {#blank#}9{#/blank#} he knew what to do. He was much {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(calm) than I was."
