Jack worked in a shop that sold clocks. He was always telling Harry1 a new clock. But Harry, who lived next to Jack, said he 2 one.

"3 needs a clock," Jack said. "How do you know when to get up?"

"My landlord Mr Smith turns on his radio at seven o'clock and listens 4 the news," Harry said. "That's my morning call."

"OK. But how do you know when to go to work?"

Now pets play an important part in our life. More and more people keep pets in their families.

I have a dog called Huanhuan. She is really cute and friendly. She always brings happiness to my family. We all love her very much and we take her as our family member. When we have breakfast, she likes to jump to my mother's legs to ask for the food she likes. When we watch TV at night, she likes to sit on the sofa with us. When I am sad, she can do some funny things to make me laugh. When I make fun of her, she plays with me happily. Every morning, she always goes to do morning exercises with us. Now we can't be without her.

 We get lots of happiness from Huanhuan, but keeping pets needs time and money. So if you want to have a pet, you must spend time looking after it and you should be patient with it!

A young boy had many bad habits. His father was so 1 . He asked an old teacher for help. The teacher took the boy for a walk in the woods. While walking, he suddenly stopped and told the boy to pull out a small plant. 

The boy held the plant and pulled it out 2 . The old man then asked him to pull out a little bigger one. The boy 3 hard and the plant came out, roots (根) and all. "Now pull that one out. said the old man, looking at a small tree. The boy had to use all his strength to pull the 4 out. "Now pull this one out." said the old man, 5 a big tree. The boy held the trunk (树干) and tried to pull it out. But it didn't move at all. "It's 6 " said the boy, out of breath.

Zhou Yichen, 11, is a primary school st udent from Zhenjiang, Jiangsu Province. In July, he got to the {#blank#}1{#/blank#} of Mount Elbrus. The mountain in Russia（俄罗斯） is 5,642 meters high. And it's the highest mountain in Europe（欧洲）.

The boy climbed（攀爬） the mountain with his father in five hours. "It was difficult. I thought I would fail（失败）, but I made it. I'm so {#blank#}2{#/blank#}," Yichen said.

Zhou Shuangliu, Yichen's father, is an outdoor lover（户外爱好者）. He climbed Mount Qomolangma in May. Together, they got to the top of the Siguniang Mountain in Sichuan Province twice - when Yichen was 9 and 10 years old. To prepare（准备） for their latest trip, Yichen ran 5 kilometers twice a week and {#blank#}3{#/blank#} every week.

"In the past, my son often played games when holding a phone. I told him that he could use the phone {#blank#}4{#/blank#}, because one day he will need it for climbing in other countries. And he really started learning English on his phone," says Zhou Shuangliu.

Yichen developed（培养） a {#blank#}5{#/blank#} interest in mountain climbing from his Russian experience（经历）. He hopes to get to the top of the 6,178 - meter Yuzhu Peak in Qinghai Province next summer.

I have a friend. Its name is Rock and it is my best friend. It comes with me everywhere I go. I can put my best 1 in my pocket or hold it in my hand. If I go out 2 my friend, it will always wait for me at home whenI 3 .
