    Near the trees there are four men. Now they are playing {#blank#}4{#/blank#} . The man with glasses is watching them.
    Look! A young man is {#blank#}5{#/blank#} around the lake. Some young women are sitting at a{#blank#}6{#/blank#} . They are drinking tea and {#blank#}7{#/blank#} . Three girls are taking {#blank#}8{#/blank#} near the lake.
    There are three {#blank#}9{#/blank#} on the lake. Some children are in them. Are there any young men in the lake? Let me see. Oh, yes, there are. They are {#blank#}10{#/blank#}  in the lake.

Lei Feng Spirit Carrying on

    "It is not hard to do one good deed, but it is hard to do good deeds all your life." Chairman Mao {#blank#}1{#/blank#}said. And he called on people to learn from him. Do you know who the man is? He is Lei Feng.

    Lei Feng was born in a poor family in a little mountain village of Hunan Province, on December 18th, 1940. He didn't go to school{#blank#}2{#/blank#}he was 10 years old. At the age of 18, he became a steel{#blank#}3{#/blank#}. He was often praised for his good job. On January 8th, 1960, he joined the army and several months later, he joined the Communist Party. He loved the Party and the people, and kept doing something good for others. When he got{#blank#}4{#/blank#}, he always said, "It's my duty and it's just that some people need some help, there should be someone standing out{#blank#}5{#/blank#}them a hand." He became a model soldier one year later.  To our sadness, Lei Feng died in an accident in 1962.

    March 5th{#blank#}6{#/blank#}a "Learn from Lei Feng Day" since 1963. When Lei Feng's Diary came out, People began to know more about him than before. Now the term "Living LeiFeng" has become a name for anyone who is brave, anyone who has{#blank#}7{#/blank#}love for his country, anyone who works hard,{#blank#}8{#/blank#}anyone who is always ready to help others…

    Lei Feng's spirit will live in{#blank#}9{#/blank#}hearts. Lei Feng's spirit will be remembered by the{#blank#}10{#/blank#}nation forever. And we will surely practice his spirit in life as he did.

Holly and Maria are talking about what a good friend is like.

H: Maria, what should a good friend {#blank#}1{#/blank#}like in your mind?

M: I think a good friend is good at sports.

H: You mean he or she is strong?

M: Yes. And he or she must be {#blank#}2{#/blank#}enough. He or she often makes us{#blank#}3{#/blank#}.

M: Er, I think he or she must be handsome or beautiful!

H: I can't agree with you. A beautiful heart is much more {#blank#}5{#/blank#}than a beautiful look.

M: Do you think a good friend should be popular in school, too?

H: Well, at least it doesn't matter to me.

    During the summer holidays, I worked as a{#blank#}1{#/blank#}at a vet's(兽医诊所), so I saw lots of dogs. Minnie was the funniest-looking dog I'd ever seen. She had thin snow-white hair on her fat body. She had big round eyes and always seemed surprised, but she was blind.

    She was brought to the vet's because her owner didn't want her any more. I thought Minnie was a sweet dog, though. "No one can know her by the ways she looks, "I thought. So we took care of her. Finally, I put an{#blank#}2{#/blank#}in the newspaper; Funny looking dog, who is quiet and has blind but beautiful eyes, needs a loving family. "Then a young man called. He said on the phone that his grandfather's sixteen-year-old dog had just died. I gave Minnie a good bath and made her hair feel soft. Then we waited for them to arrive.

    At last, an old car{#blank#}3{#/blank#}in front of the vet's. Two kids ran to the door. They took her happily into their arms. Then they ran to their grandfather, who was waiting in the car. I hurried behind them to see what he would say about Minnie. Inside the car, the grandfather held Minnie in his{#blank#}4{#/blank#}. Minnie licked his face. It was love at the first lick.

    "She is wonderful!" the old man smiled. I was thankful that Minnie had found a good home. Then I saw that the grandfather's eyes were a milky white colour, he was blind, too.
