This is a story about a boy called Sparky. For Sparky， school was all but impossible. He failed every subject in the eighth grade. He got a zero in physics. It made him the worst physics student in the school's history. He didn't do much better in sports. Although he tried to join the school's golf team， he quickly lost the only important match.

    He didn't have friends， either. Other kids didn't care about him. If a classmate said “Hello” to Sparky outside of school， he would feel very surprised.

    Sparky was a loser(失败者） and everyone knew it. So he accepted it.

But one thing was important to Sparky—drawing. He was proud of his artwork. In senior high school， he sent some cartoons to the editors of the yearbook but he was refused. Sparky was hurt. But he didn't lose hope because he believed in his ability and he stuck to drawing. He decided to become a professional artist.

    He wrote a letter to the Walt Disney Studios after graduating from high school. The studio asked him to draw some cartoons on a certain subject. Sparky spent a lot of time on the cartoons. Finally， the reply came from Disney Studios: they aren't like cartoons.

    Was it time to stop drawing?

Sparky didn't think so. He started to put his own life in the cartoons. He created his childhood self—a little boy loser: Charlie Brown. He wasn't good at football.But Charlie Brown would soon become famous worldwide. Sparky， the boy who used to fail in school and who was refused again and again， was Charles Schulz. He created the Peanuts comic strip and the world-famous cartoon characters Charlie Brown and Snoopy.

    The daughter, Susan, is good at growing flowers and keeping goldfish（养金鱼）．Every morning she gets up early．The first thing for her is to look at her flowers and goldfish．She likes them very much. When she is eighteen years old she goes to college（上大学）．She has to（不得不） tell her mother to look after（照顾）her flowers and goldfish．

    Her mother is too careless(粗心)．She is not good at growing flowers and keeping goldfish．

    By and by(慢慢的) the goldfish is dead（死了）,then the flowers. The mother has to write to （写信）her daughter to tell her all about her flowers and her goldfish．Susan is very sorry to hear that．She writes back (回信)to her mother a letter:“ Then what about my father?”

    I have just finished reading the lovely book called Daddy Long Legs written by Jean Webster.

    Judy was a girl who was always positive about life though she was an orphan(孤儿) living in a small village for 18 years. Then one day a man came and decided to send her to college, which later totally changed Judy's life. He asked Judy to write him a letter once a month to tell him what she had learned at school. But he would never reply to her letter. The different life between the village and the college made Judy fully realize the beauty of life and she cherished every moment of her life. She never asked too much about life. Her only quarrel (争吵) with life was that time ran too fast. She caught up with other classmates so quickly although she had a quite different childhood from them, which at first did cause her a lot of trouble. The story of Judy was told in the form of letters which were also written by Judy herself. When I was reading the letters, I was touched by Judy's character.

    I am wondering whether you have ever read it and I am sure that you will be deeply moved by the unexpected and romantic ending if you are a teenage girl. In a word, Daddy Long Legs is worth reading.

    Chopsticks were invented in China. There are many stories about who may have invented them. One of them is about Dayu.

    Dayu was an ancient Chinese leader who helped his people fight floods. He was always busy and often ate in the wild. He used a pot to boil (煮沸)water and cook animal meat. Most of the time, he was in a hurry and didn't want to wait to eat. But the meat was too hot to pick up with his hands. In those days, people ate only with their hands.

    So Dayu picked up some twigs (树枝)to help him hold the meat. The twigs later became the chopsticks we know today.

    But of course, this is just one story. The earliest chopsticks we have found so far are more than 3,000 years old, dating back to the Shang Dynasty (朝代).The six bronze chopsticks were found in the Ruins of Yin (殷墟)in Anyang, Henan.

    At first, chopsticks were just used as cooking tools. It was only after some time that people started to use chopsticks to eat.

    I'm a girl, Rosie. Racing on the 1,500-meter track (跑道), I'm so tired. I want to stop but a voice is repeating in my head, "No one knows what the result will be. Everything is still possible." Today, I have to fight with myself.

    Nine years ago, when I was a 6-year-old girl, my mother took me on a trip. We went to the foot of a high mountain which she told me that we would climb. I had never done this before and the thought of it made me very happy.

    At the beginning, I was so excited, and climbed fast. But half an hour later, when I was thirsty and tired, I just stopped and sat on the ground, completely silent. My mom came and sat next to me.

She said, "Get up and go on!"

    Crying, I almost shouted, "Never! It's too tiring and I am thirsty. I want to go back home now."

    Patiently she explained, "Listen, my dear. If you try your best, anything is possible. If you don't try, your dream will never come true. You will never know how beautiful the sights look unless you reach the top of the mountain."

    Hearing her words, I stopped crying and started to climb again. Finally I did reach the top of the mountain and enjoyed the fantastic view.

    Today I'm on the racing track. I'm going to keep running because I know it's always valuable. And in the end I made it — I got through the finish line.

    Although it was really difficult and I did not win, I did finish it. "Never stop fighting until you arrive at your destined (命定的) place."
