Not all memories are sweet. Some people spend all their lives trying to forget bad experiences.

    Now American researchers think they are close to developing a pill, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} will help people forget bad memories. The pill is designed {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (take) immediately after a frightening experience. They hope it might reduce, or {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (possible) erase (抹去) the effect of painful memories.

    In November, experts tested a drug on people in the U.S. and France. The drug stops the body from {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (release) chemicals that fix memories in the brain. So far, the research {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (suggest) that only the emotional effects of memories may be reduced, not that memories are wiped out. They are not sure to the degree people's memories are affected.

    The research has caused a great deal of {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (argue). Some think it is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} bad idea, while others support it. Supporters say it could lead to pills which prevent or treat soldiers' troubling memories after war. They say that there are many people who suffer from terrible memories. {#blank#}8{#/blank#}, those who are{#blank#}9{#/blank#} the research say that maybe the pills can change people's memories and changing memories is very {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (danger) because memories give us our identity.

    The city of San Francisco is a wonderful vacation destination that offers many {#blank#}1{#/blank#}  (difference) things to see and do. Those experiencing a lively city with a wealth of shopping and dining opportunities {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (be) very happy. Those looking for a city that{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (offer) museums, art galleries, and very interesting historical sites will also be happy if they choose San Francisco. Many people don't realize it, but people {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  look for an interesting place to get out {#blank#}5{#/blank#}  enjoy nature will also appreciate San Francisco. When touring {#blank#}6{#/blank#}  city by walking, you aren't going to cover as much ground. There are far more {#blank#}7{#/blank#}  (benefit) to touring the city on foot though. This type of tour allows you {#blank#}8{#/blank#}  (see) more buildings that others driving by cars can't see. You may even get to enter different facilities that those touring the city from the streets do not. A tour of the city on foot also {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (usual) focuses on a more localized neighbourhood level, which can be very{#blank#}10{#/blank#}  (excite) in a number of different ways.

    Swedish businessman Nile Bergqvist is delighted with his new hotel, the world's first igloo(冰屋) hotel.

    {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(build) in a small town, it has been attracting lots of visitors but soon the fun will be over. In two weeks' time, Bergqvst's ice creation{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(be) nothing more than a pool of water. "We don't see it as a big problem," he says. "We just look forward to{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(replace) it."

    Bergqvist built his first igloo in 1991 for an art exhibition. It was {#blank#}4{#/blank#}successful that he designed the present one, {#blank#}5{#/blank#}measures roughly 200 square meters. Six workmen spent more than eight weeks —piling 1,000 tons of snow onto a wooden base; when the snow froze, the base{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(remove).

    After their stay, all visitors receive a survival certificate recording their success. {#blank#}7{#/blank#}no windows, nowhere to hang clothes and temperatures below 0℃, it may seem more like a survival test {#blank#}8{#/blank#}a relaxing hotel break. "It's great fun," Bergqvist explains, "as{#blank#}9{#/blank#} as a good start in survival training."

    The{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(popular)of the igloo is beyond doubt: it is now attracting tourists from all over the world. At least 800 people have stayed at the igloo this season even though there are only 10 rooms.

    There once was a forest filled with happy animals. One day a raccoon(浣熊) found some socks left behind by picnickers, and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (decide) to wear them. They fitted so well, and felt so {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (comfort), that he kept them on. He spent his days {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (walk) through the forest in his new socks.

    Other animals became envious of the raccoon's new look and followed his trend. First it was squirrels in {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (shirt), then rabbits {#blank#}5{#/blank#} hats on, and finally birds wearing underpants!

    Doctor Bear,{#blank#}6{#/blank#} forest physician, disapproved and tried to warn the clothes-wearers. But no one listened. Instead, they urged him to follow the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (late) trend too.

    Soon, the problems started. The squirrel caught his shirt on a branch and crashed to the ground. The rabbit tried entering his hole while wearing his hat and got stuck. Even the raccoon, thanks to his {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (bright) coloured socks, slipped into the river and almost died.

    When the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (injure) animals came to see Doctor Bear, he told them,“Your clothes are killing you. You don't need them.”

    Those {#blank#}10{#/blank#} listened to the doctor's advice finally understood they didn't need clothes. They'd only started wearing clothes to make others envy them.

    Wi-Fi is a word which has its own little brother in the form of a complex password which, no matter how hard you try, you can never guess. Generally, it {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (stick) to the inside windows of cafes and hotels as {#blank#}2{#/blank#} extra way of attracting customers. Even on public transport and in shopping {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (center), it's becoming more common. Last summer, I {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (spend) four months working in France, where the company I was working for put me up in a house {#blank#}5{#/blank#} didn't have Wi-Fi. I was looking forward to it. I soon discovered, however, that {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (live) in a house without Wi-Fi was easier than I had expected before. {#blank#}7{#/blank#} I couldn't enjoy my usual web browsing (浏览) on BBC iplayer, social media site, and keeping up-to-date with the news, I could spend more time with my housemates. I read more, I cooked for my friends and I even tidied up {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (often). I learned how to live without Wi-Fi. I found it was easier than I had imagined. My experience this summer made me {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (reflect) on how much we do use Wi-Fi. It's possible not to be so dependent {#blank#}10{#/blank#} it. Try it and see.
