    People who are overweight are often seen to have a strong desire for food at any time of the day. They keep on eating till they reach their satisfaction level. This often pushes them towards overeating.  Thus, if you are one of such people, you need to take steps to satisfy your hunger without overeating.

     This will give you a clear picture about the quantity of food you should eat at once. Do not overeat because you will have leftovers. You can always enjoy eating the leftovers at some other time and save time and effort required for cooking.

    Do not rush while eating food. Take your time and eat slowly as this technique develops the feeling of fullness before your stomach is actually full.  This draws your mind's attention towards your stomach, which will let you know whether your stomach is full or not.

    Do not watch television while eating because it causes distractions (分心) .  Create a pleasant dining environment so that the satisfaction of having a great dining experience leaves your hunger satisfied without eating too much.

     Waiting for too long before eating will make you eat more. Drink a lot of water as it helps in reducing food desire without adding calories to the body.

A. Eat when you begin feeling hungry.

B. Overeating is a major cause behind poor health.

                                                                             The Lost Rules of Etiquette

        Etiquette, or good manners, used to be the glue that held society together.{#blank#}1{#/blank#}Sadly, these days it has mostly gone by the wayside. This list is several best rules of etiquette that have now disappeared.

Opening the Door

        In days gone by, a gentleman would always open doors for ladies.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}This has now almost entirely disappeared and it is pot entirely the fault of the men. I have seen women laugh at men for opening a door for them. They seem tobe confusing manners with chauvinism(大男子主义).

Writing Thank-You Notes

        In days gone by, whenever a personreceived a gift, they would write a thank-you note as soon as possible.  {#blank#}3{#/blank#}Parents would sit children down after a birthday or Christmas and coach them in theirfirst thank-you note. It is a shame that gift giving has now become a virtualobligation and the idea of a thank-you note would be laughed at.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#}

        We seem to have completely lost theconcept of correct timing when it comes to parties these days.

{#blank#}5{#/blank#} After all, aparty normally has a guest of honor-this is usually the oldest woman present.It was considered extremely rude in the past to leave a party before the guestof honor-and once the guest of honor left, it was a signal to all that theyshould begin their own preparations to leave.

A. Arriving on Time.

B. Leaving at the Right Time.

C. People leave with various excuses.

D. It enabled people  to get on well with each other.

E. This rule was true even if the giverwas a relative.

Get a Thorough Understanding of Oneself

    In all one's life time it is oneself that one spends the most time being with or dealing with. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    When you are going upwards in life you tend to overestimate(高估) yourself. It seems that everything you seek for is within your reach.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}It's likely that you think it wise for yourself to stay away from the outer world. Actually, to get a thorough understanding of oneself, you may as well keep the following tips in mind.

    Gain a correct view of oneself. You may look forward hopefully to the future but be sure not to expect too much, for dreams can never be fully realized. You may be courageous to meet challenges but it should be clear to you where to direct your efforts.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Self-appreciate. Whether you compare yourself to a towering tree or a blade of grass, a high mountain or a small stone, you represent a state of nature.{#blank#}4{#/blank#}If you earnestly admire yourself you'll have a real sense of self-appreciation.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#}In time of anger, do yourself a favor by releasing it in a quiet place so that you won't be hurt by its flames; in time of sadness, do yourself a favor by sharing it with your friends so as to change a bad mood into a cheerful one; in time of tiredness, do yourself a favor by getting a good sleep.

    Get a full control of one's life. Then one will find one's life full of color1 and flavor.

A. But it is precisely oneself that one has the least understanding of.

    Are you suffering from FOMO—that is, Fear Of Missing Out? Research shows that a growing number of young people are with worrying reasons for their sleep and schoolwork.

    {#blank#}1{#/blank#} You aren't able to do your best unless you sleep well. Most experts agree that the optimum(最适宜)number of hours is eight, and this has been accepted as common sense for as long as I can remember. However, I was young once and know most of you get much less sleep than that.

    I read an interesting article in a teachers' magazine recently. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Worryingly, the results showed that teenagers are facing a new problem. They may go to bed and get up at appropriate times, but a growing number are waking up in the middle of the night, not to use the bathroom or have a snack, but because of FOMO.

    According to the article, the number of students waking up during the night to check social media is growing. Afraid of missing a comment or opportunity to take part in a chat, teenagers are waking at all times of the night, going online and getting involved. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    Experts are worried about this growing trend and the report reveals some worrying statistics: 23% of 12 to 15-year-olds wake up nearly every night to use social media. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} One in third of the students are constantly tired and unable to function to their full capacity.

    So I'd like to ask you to be responsible when it comes to social media. Switch off your devices at night. The world won't end and your social media will be waiting to greet you in the morning! {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

A. But things are getting out of hand.

B. I give you my word that you won't have missed anything important.

C. Another 15% wake up at night once a week for the same reason.

    {#blank#}1{#/blank#} But how do you deal with your worries? Whether your worries are big or small, you can take these three steps to deal with your worries:

    ⒈{#blank#}2{#/blank#}

    Sometimes, you will know what you are worried about. Other times, you might not. Try to find it out first; if you can't, you can ask for help.

    ⒉{#blank#}3{#/blank#}

    There is always something you can do to help you feel less worried. Sitting there worrying is no fun and it won't solve your problem

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#} If you are worried about grades, ask yourself these questions:

Why are grades important? What do grades mean for me?

    How do I get ready for class? Do I go over my notes even when there isn't a test?

    Do I have a good place to do my homework? Have I tried different ways of studying?

If your worry is about a fight you had with a friend, you might write down all the things you could do—-- write a note to him or her, invite him or her to a basketball game, say sorry to him or her, etc. Once you have a list of things you could do, you can choose the one that gets your friend back.

    ⒊{#blank#}5{#/blank#}

    When you are worried, it can help to find someone to talk to. You can ask your parents, friends or teachers for help.

A .Grades at school are often a top worry for kids.

B .Try to find out what you are worried about.

C .How to deal with our worries?

D .Ask for help.

    The Internet has opened up a whole new online world for us to meet, chat and go where we've never been before.

    But just as in face-to-face communication, there are some rules of behavior that should be followed when on line. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}Imagine how you'd feel if you were in the other person's shoes. For anything you're about to send: ask yourself, "Would I say this to the person's face?" If the answer is no, rewrite and reread.{#blank#}2{#/blank#}

    If someone in the chat room is rude to you, your instinct (本能) is to fire back in the same manner. But try not to do so. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}If it was caused by a disagreement with another member, try to fix the situation by politely discussing it. Remember to respect the beliefs and opinions of others in the chat room.

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}Offer advice when asked by newcomers, as they may not be sure what to do or how to communicate. When someone makes a mistake, whether it's a stupid question or an unnecessarily long answer, be kind about it. If it's a small mistake, you may not need to say anything. Even if you feel strongly about it, think twice before saying anything. Having good manners yourself doesn't give you a license to correct everyone else. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}At the same time, if you find you are wrong, be sure to correct yourself and apologize to those that you have offended(冒犯).

    It is not polite to ask others personal questions such as their age, sex and marital status(婚姻地位). Unless you know the person very well, and you are both comfortable with sharing personal information, don't ask such questions.

A. It's natural that there are some people who speak rudely or make mistakes online.

B. Repeat the process(过程) till you feel sure that you'd feel comfortable saying the words to the person's face.

C. Everyone was new to the network once.

D. The basic rule is simple: treat others in the same way you would want to be treated.

E. When you send short messages to a person online, you must say something beautiful to hear.

F. You should either ignore the person, or use your chat software to block their messages.

G. If you do decide to tell someone about a mistake, point it out politely.
