Last summer holidays, my classmates and I helped with a charity show. Its aim was to raise money for those children 1 couldn't go to school in poor areas. It was very meaningful for us to do it.

    We did a lot for that. I felt happy when I 2 to be the host. Though it was exciting, I was 3 nervous because of the TV cameras that I couldn't sleep all night. I knew that lots of people 4 to watch the show, also there would be a large audience in 5 front of the TV. As a few famous stars would come to the show, one of my duties 6to introduce each of them. I also had some 7 things to do. So I often worked 8 morning to night. It was hard work,9 I was happy. I practiced a lot before the show. I had to remember all the words and do 10 right at the same time. At first, I thought I would never be able to do it better. I kept 11 myself not to be nervous.

    Slowly everything became easier. The big day came very fast. 12 people came to the show. They donated money and materials. And the local business also gave 13 a lot of support. How generous they are! After the show, we sent the donations to those poor children. Soon they wrote back. They were really grateful to us. I was very proud14 I could help them. I hope15people will always help them.

①My daughter's pet fish is dying. Recently I find myself spending minutes and even hours staring at the clear round bowl, hoping for another performance of its wonderful dance. To be honest, I am not a fish person. Compared with cats and dogs, fish can neither play nor walk with me. To me, they are just so boring.

②But every morning now, I tap on the bowl, shake out some fish food and carefully throw it into the bowl, hoping the fish can eat it with the least effort. I try to make the fish more comfortable. Yet there's so little that I can do. The fish just remains still (一动不动的) at the bottom of the bowl.

③"Come on! Eat something!" I say. And suddenly I realize that somebody said the exact same sentences to me before. Many times.

④I think of the banana pancakes that my mother would serve me every time I became sick and stayed in bed. They were my favorite treat and always made me feel much better. "Come on! Eat something! Your body needs to be strong!" My mom would always say. What made me even warmer was the idea that she would always, always be there when I needed her.

⑤Many years later, I tried to do the same when my mother became sick. She was only 61 but seemed to get weaker every day. "Would you like some green tea?" Again and again, I would ask, "What about some cake? Hot chocolate? Strawberries?" I gently encouraged her to eat because I didn't know what else to do. "Please, Mom! Eat something! Your body needs to be strong!" But she would not. There she was, lying still on the bed, with her eyes closed. That was the last time I saw her.

⑥The fish is still lying at the bottom of the bowl. I stare at it and suddenly a familiar (熟悉的) face comes into my mind. Then I say in a low voice, "Mom, ▲ ."

Mr. and Mrs. White are not very rich, so they always spend their holidays in a small hotel at the foot of the mountains near their hometown. They can go climbing and enjoy the fresh air, and they are always very happy. One year, Mr. White got a lot of money in his business. They were so excited that they decided to go to a foreign country and stayed in a really good hotel.

 They flew to London and booked a 5-star hotel. They arrived there late in the evening. They thought they would have to go to bed hungrily, because it didn't serve meals in the former(以前的)hotel after seven in the evening. So they were surprised to know that this hotel served dinner until ten.

"Then what are the times of meals?"asked Mrs.White.

"Well, madam, we serve breakfast from seven to eleven. Lunch from twelve to three, tea from four to five, and dinner from six to ten."

"But that hardly leaves any time for us to see the city!" said Mrs. White.

My cousin Sam is a middle school student. He is twelve years old. He loves1 a lot. Every morning, he runs around the playground for half an hour. Now he looks 2 and tall.

Sam likes reading. He also likes writing a lot. He wants to be a writer. He often borrows books and reads them in the school 3 . In his free time, he often 4 some stories for his school newspaper, School Times. Many students like reading this newspaper very much. They all think his stories are very 5 . They want Sam to tell them more stories.

Sam doesn't do well in 6 . He thinks English is a little  7 and difficult, so he doesn't like it. One day, he finds his sister sitting in the study after he comes back home from school. She is 8  the computer. She is watching a video（视频）9 . It's about how to learn English well. He 10 it with his sister. He finds the teacher is cool in the video and his classes are so interesting. Then he makes a decision (决定) to learn English well.

 For a long time, life seemed to keep me in a never-ending cycle of stress. I had been feeling{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(灰色的). I sometımes seemed to feel that I could hardly {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(控制) myself. One day, I planned to take a train journey for a {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(一对;两个) of weeks. On the train the people were chatting loudly, but I was lost in my own thoughts. As the train went through a forest, the sights outside changed so much that it seemed to pass through different s{#blank#}4{#/blank#} of nature, from blooming spring to colourful autumn. I suddenly {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(意识到) the beauty around us. Two young men b{#blank#}6{#/blank#} me were talking about a funny story. Hearing their happy laughter, I decided to {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(治疗) myself and get out of the so-called stress. {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(锁) myself in my own world will only slow me down. {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(无论什么) lies before me, I need to forget about all other things.I should just {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(继续) my own way for reaching the goal. Anyway, nature had a magic power.

Penelope Towney is a primary school student from Australia. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}In July, 2021, she made her first short film—The Land We're On,with Penelope Towney. 

Penelope is a First Nations(原住民) girl. Learning about her family tree is one of her favorite things to do. "{#blank#}2{#/blank#}From them, I learn a lot about where I come from, " said Penelope. She wishes that people can know a little more about First Nations by watching the short film. 

Making the short film was not easy, and Penelope put much effort(努力)into it. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}She also learned about First Nations writers and listened to their stories. And she looked at First Nations artworks. All of these helped Penelope to make her film better. "My favorite First Nations writer is Kirli Saunders. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}At the end of the talk, I got to stand up and spoke to her about making such a short film. She also encouraged(鼓励)me, " said Penelope. 

{#blank#}5{#/blank#}Her grandpa was the first First Nations person to travel down to the Antarctic Circle(南极圈), studying animals and plants there.
