In most parts of the world, many students help their schools make less pollution.They join "environment clubs".{#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    No-garbage(垃圾) lunches. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Environment clubs ask students to bring their lunches in bags that can be used again.Every week they will choose the classes that make the least garbage and report them to the whole school!

    {#blank#}3{#/blank#}On the no-car day, nobody comes to school by car-not the students and not the teachers!  Cars give pollution to the air, so remember: Walk, jump, bike or run.Use your legs!  It's not only good for the environment but also lots of fun!

    {#blank#}4{#/blank#}Did you know that some toilets could waste twenty to forty cubic meters(立方米)of water an hour? In a year, that would fill a small river！ In environment clubs, students mend those broken toilets themselves.

    Erin and her friend Amy flew into San Diego last week. They are both in their mid-20s，and both are nurses who live in Georgia. It was their first visit to California，and they were excited.

    They headed north to Los Angeles. They visited many places in Hollywood. They hoped they would see lots of actors and actors' homes. If they got lucky，they would get some autographs and maybe even some photographs of them standing next to a movie star.

    But they were disappointed. A car took them on a tour past actors，homes，but no actors were outside their homes. Later，however， Erin and Amy were able to put their hands and feet into the handprints and footprints of movie stars at the Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

    Erin and Amy drove to Burbank the next day to watch the taping of a Jay Leno show， but the line was so long that they decided to give up. Instead they went to a mall and had a great time shopping. They flew back to Georgia with souvenirs，photos，and wonderful memories. Amy said，”Next time，we're not leaving until we see some real live actors!”

    We have always been interested in the Moon. 2,000 years ago, people already knew it moves around the Earth and where it would be in the sky at different times of the year. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}

    When scientists could use telescopes to study the Moon more closely, their ideas began to change. They could see the Moon was made of rocks. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} And they believed the Moon had once been a planet. It was caught in Earth's gravity millions of years ago.

    In 1969, Moon rocks were finally brought to the Earth by astronauts. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} To their surprise, scientists found that the Moon and the Earth are made of the same things except for water. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}

    After years of study, some scientists think that the Moon was once part of the Earth. They believe maybe 4 million years ago, something hit the Earth. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}These rocks slowly joined together and after many years became the Moon.

    In the future, even though our ideas about the Moon may change again, we will still be interested in it.

We are often warned by our teacher not to waste precious (宝贵的)time, because time lost will never return. I think it quite true. What does time look like?  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Time is abstract (抽象的), so we have to think about it.

Time passes very quickly. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.  It is because they don't know how to make use of their time. They waste it in going to theatres, cinemas and parks, and doing other things. Why do we study every day? Why do we work? Why do most people would rather take buses instead of walking? The answer is very simple. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}.

Today we are living in the 21st century. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. When a person dies, his life ends. Since life is short, we must devote our time and energy to our study so that we may be able to serve the people well in the future. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}, for it does not only bring us failure but also does us other harm. If it is necessary for us to do our work today, let us do it today and not leave it until tomorrow.
