CCTV New Year's Gala(春晚) is a Chinese New Year special produced by China Central Television. The program begins at 8:00 PM and {#blank#}1{#/blank#} until about 1:00 AM on the first day of the New Year.
The program has received extremely {#blank#}2{#/blank#} audiences(观众), which have grown greatly  {#blank#}3{#/blank#} the years. As the Chinese New Year's Eve is a time when the{#blank#}4{#/blank#} members get together, the Gala adds a pleasant mood to the house {#blank#}5{#/blank#} people sis in front of their TV set laughing, discussing and enjoying the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} . It has become a {#blank#}7{#/blank#} in China to watch the New Year's Gala. Around 1:00 in the early morning, the program {#blank#}8{#/blank#} with the song Can't Forget Tonight.
To bring audiences even {#blank#}9{#/blank#} to the yearly show, the Gala organizers have tired many ways to make the program more attractive. It is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} that there will be no advertisements this year so that audiences can be satisfied with a natural and smooth Gala.

    Long long ago，there was a prince．There was a big tree in his garden(花园)．Many animals lived in the tree．Every morning when the{#blank#}1{#/blank#}woke up，he heard these animals'nice {#blank#}2{#/blank#}．Every evening he sat on the{#blank#}3{#/blank#}under the tree to enjoy his mom's stories．

    Slowly, the prince grew up．He got {#blank#}4{#/blank#},and had some children．But he began to hate the tree，for it became old and dry．One day he asked some people to cut the tree down．

After the tree was cut down, the animals left．The prince was sad．He wanted to know where the animals {#blank#}5{#/blank#}．He asked many people but {#blank#}6{#/blank#}knew．He thought these people  were  very {#blank#}7{#/blank#}．And he was angry with them．He decided to kill them．Luckily ,a {#blank#}8{#/blank#}boy stopped him and explained that it was because of the tree that those animals went away．The boy advised the prince to plant more trees so that more animals would come．

    The champions of the Earth Awards (地球卫士奖) is the United Nations' highest environmental honor. On Dec 5th, 2017, it {#blank#}1{#/blank#} to China's Saihanba.

    Saihanba is a vast forest{#blank#}2{#/blank#} in Chengde, Hebei. In Mongolian, its name means “beautiful highland”, and rightly so: across the area{#blank#}3{#/blank#} forests and grasslands are around crystal-clear lakes.

    Around the 10th century, Saihanba became a{#blank#}4{#/blank#} hunting ground. During the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), Emperor Kangxi liked Saihanba so much and he once killed 318 rabbits in a single day.

    In 1860, because of a shortage of money, the land {#blank#}5{#/blank#}to the public. In the following years, logging (砍伐) and wildfires destroyed the forest and grassland. By the 1950s, Saihanba had become a barren (荒芜的) land.

    Hard work and efforts{#blank#}6{#/blank#} a national forest in Saihanba started in the 1960s. In 1961, a group of six scientists traveled through Saihanba and studied the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} of growing trees there.

    They finally found one tree standing alone in the vast land, which {#blank#}8{#/blank#}encouraged them. If one tree could survive there, so could millions of others.

    About 56 years later, after overcoming the countless difficulties of planting trees in a very cold place, the barren land is now a vast forest. Today, Saihanba is known as a natural shield (防护){#blank#}9{#/blank#} sandstorms. It is very important for Beijing's water and air{#blank#}10{#/blank#}

    There are two thousand and two {#blank#}1{#/blank#} students at Haiding Middle School. Every day they go to school in different ways. Some students {#blank#}2{#/blank#} far from the school. Every morning they {#blank#}3{#/blank#} about an hour to get to school, so they must {#blank#}4{#/blank#} buses. Some students live near the school. They often walk to school. They think walking is good {#blank#}5{#/blank#} their health. About one hundred students ride their {#blank#}6{#/blank#} to school because they like {#blank#}7{#/blank#}bikes very much and their homes are not very far from the school. No one goes to school {#blank#}8{#/blank#} car. How about the teachers? Well, some teachers always {#blank#}9{#/blank#} to school because they live about ten {#blank#}10{#/blank#} from school. Some teachers live near the school, so they just get to school on foot.
