Tingting is a Chinese girl. But now she lives in the US. She can speak English, but sometimes she makes mistakes. Last week Tingting went to a farm with her friends. She told her friends she wanted to see a ship. Everyone looked surprised and Tingting didn't know why.

    Sam said, "Tingting, we are going to the farm，not to the sea. There are no ships on the farm."

Then Tingting knew her mistake. Tingting wanted to say "sheep" not "ship". It was very funny. Her friends all laughed.

    I'm Tom. I have a big family. My grandma is a Chinese teacher. She is kind, sometimes she is strict, too. My grandpa is a science teacher. He likes to make jokes, he is very funny. My mother is a nurse. She is hard-working. My father is a good cook. I am a pupil. I like to play games. This is my family. What about yours?

Saturday, July 23   Sunny and hot

    Bill's family took me to Xidan today. It's a famous shopping centre in Beijing.

    We went to Xidan Bookshop first. Bill's father bought some books for me. He bought two English books about China and one English-Chinese dictionary. I am happy because now I can learn more about China and also learn more Chinese.

    Next we went to a big shopping mall. First I bought a lovely toy panda for my cousin. I also bought silk scarves for my mum and Tina, and a silk shirt for my dad. Then Bill took me to a special kite shop. There were so many beautiful kites. Bill bought me a kite that looks like a bird. Bill is going to teach me to fly it tomorrow.

    Last, we went to a restaurant. We ate delicious Beijing duck there. I really like Chinese food.

Questions:

Joan: It's sunny today. I will go to the nature park.

Tom: How will you get there?

Joan: I will get there by bus. Where will you go?

Tom: I will go to the library. It's near. I'll go by bike.

Joan: How about Mike? Where will he go?

Tom: He will go to the zoo.

Joan: Is it near?

Tom: Yes, it's near. He will go on foot.

Joan: Will Jack go to the zoo, too?

Tom: No, he will go to the museum. It's so far. He will go by motorbike.

Tom: What can you do on the computer?

Peter: I often play games and I download(下载) music from the Internet. Do you use the computer, Anne?

Anne: Yes, I do. I sometimes check the train timetable. And I often find out about countries in the world. What about you, Dongdong?

Dongdong: I often search for a lot of things on the computer. And I always email my friend in Australia. What can you do on the computer, Tom?

Tom: I often do my homework on the computer.

    How are you?

    I'm in the UK now. It's hot today. I wear my yellow T-shirt and pretty white skirt. I go to the farm with my mother and sister. It's Uncle John's farm. It's big and nice. We can see many vegetables in the garden. We try some red tomatoes. They are so good. Uncle John has a lot of animals on his farm. My sister loves the horse very much. I love the cows because I love to drink milk.
