Myfriend Zhang Yu works in a company (公司) in Beijing. Thecompany is3from his home. He goes to work either bybus4 bysubway. When he gets up early, he5the bus to work. His home is next to thefirst stop of the No. 456 bus. It is easy for him to get a seat (座位)6 the bus. But hespends (花费) two hours getting to the7. When hedoesn't get up early, he takes the subway. It takes8 aboutone hour to go to work by subway. But there are too9people on it. Sometimes Zhang Yu can't even(甚至)10!

When we build a new house, we often buy something beautiful to decorate it. The painting is always the first thing we want to buy. People from all over the world mostly like western paintings. But as a Chinese, I think Chinese paintings are the best.

Chinese paintings are one of the oldest kinds of paintings in the world. Chinese artists first started painting over two thousand years ago, and painters in China are still using many of the same ways today.

Chinese painters usually paint natural scenes(自然景观), animals or people. We can only see buildings in Chinese paintings when they make up a small part of a natural scene.

There are two kinds of traditional Chinese paintings. The first one is the gongbi style. People need a lot of time to make this style of painting, because they paint everything in great detail(细节). This style often uses a lot of colour. Long ago, most painters in China used the gongbi style.

The second style of Chinese painting is the ink-wash painting(水墨画), Painters usually finish ink-wash paintings very quickly and they may not always have much colour. Ink-wash paintings have fewer details, because the painter is trying to show something with just a few brushstrokes(笔画). Most ink-wash artists do not work as painters. They paint as a hobby. But a good ink-wash artist can still become famous.

Let's face it—money isn't always easy to come by, especially when you haven't got a job and your parents don't give you an allowance（补助）. And at the weekends, you might want to shop, eat at a restaurant or see a film. That all adds up! But no money doesn't mean no fun! Here's a list of some of our favourite ideas for "free time"!

Go out to libraries, and look at the noticeboards there. You might see a sign for a free concert in the park or a poem reading. Your library or community centre might offer free activities, such as language lessons or film nights. Bring your friends and try something new!

No money for a film night? No problem! Nature puts on an even better show. Find a quiet space outdoors, spread a blanket（毯子）on the ground and look up at the night sky. Use apps to help you find stars and constellations（星座）. Add music to make it more enjoyable.

If you haven't got money to go to a film, just make one! Write a script（剧本）.（This is more fun if several friends join in. ） Find old clothes and household items to use as costumes（服装） and props（道具）. （Ask your mom and dad first, of course.） Practise, and then film it with a phone or tablet（平板）. When the film's ready, host a viewing party!

Get a group of friends together and volunteer. You'll feel great and you'll have a great time doing it. Look for opportunities in your community. Pick up litter, clean up an animal house or visit a home for the old people. Helping out can make others happy, and what's more fun than that?

Do you know the town Glastonbury? It's small, quiet town in England. It's very special. Why? {#blank#}1{#/blank#} However, every year in June, about 200,000 music lovers come here for "Glasto". {#blank#}2{#/blank#} It's one of the most famous music festivals in the world. The festival started in 1970 and is held at Worthy Farm, about 10 km from the town Glastonbury. It usually lasts for five days.

At the Glastonbury Festival, you can walk around and hear different music in different places. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} They play their music here so it has almost everything.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#} It's very fantastic when the weather is good. But in summer, it rains a lot during the festival. As for the music lovers, they don't care about it at all — they sing and dance in the rain when the performers are playing.

It's sometimes quite different to get tickets for the Glastonbury Festival because lots of people want to go there. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

Tourism has become a huge industry. Tourists make millions of foreign trips a year, twice as m {#blank#}1{#/blank#}as 20 years ago. It's now the largest employer on Earth. Clearly, it can do great good, but it can also do great damage.

It's true that tourism has brought benefits to many areas of the world that were very poor. However, mass tourism also has some bad e {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. Local culture and customs change as more tourists arrive. Too much tourism damages the environment. And more and more tourists are behaving badly.

Complaints from local people are growing. In cities such as Barcelona or Venice residents say that too many tourists arrive on cruise ships(游轮). As a result, town centres are overcrowded. They tell stories about n {#blank#}3{#/blank#} parties that keep people awake all night. In famous beauty spots, where tourist money was welcomed, people are now worried about the damage tourists do to the environment.

Of course, many tourists enjoy the benefits of tourism in a responsible way. They choose holidays that support the local economy and they respect the local culture and the environment. Environmentally friendly tourism, or eco-tourism, is becoming more p {#blank#}4{#/blank#}.

Responsible tourist behaviour is necessary, but it isn't enough to solve the problem. Many people now believe that governments should control how many visitors enter their country. They believe they should limit the n {#blank#}5{#/blank#}of cruise ships that use their ports and should not allow too many hotel developments.

U {#blank#}6{#/blank#}, governments are in a difficult situation. Tourism brings in a lot of money and this helps them i {#blank#}7{#/blank#} life for the local people. However, some governments are beginning to understand that too much tourism can be bad for the local population and the environment. They've taken some measures to promote environmentally friendly tourism. There may still be hope.

I am a middle school student. My name is Wang Jing. My grandfather is 70 years old. He often says life has changed a lot. It becomes better and better. I ask him what life was like when he was a child. The following is what he says. 

When he was a child, he used to feel hungry. There didn't use to be enough food for him to eat. He has two brothers and two sisters. His parents were both farmers. They were very poor and couldn't let their children eat as much as possible. As for clothes, they didn't use to have enough clothes. They didn't use to buy new clothes. The younger brothers and sisters often wore their elder brothers' and sisters' clothes. My grandfather is the youngest. Only he went to the university and worked in the city. His brothers and sisters didn't get enough education. Now my grandfather has retired(退休) and lives a happy life. He can eat any food that he wants. He can buy clothes that he wants to buy. He says he is much happier than before. He often asks me to study hard. He says if I work hard, I can have a good future.
