When I was in Grade Three, I was chosen to play the lead role in the school play.

    For weeks my mother helped me1my lines (台词), but once on stage, every word disappeared2my head. Then my teacher asked me to change3 and be the narrator.

    Although I didn't tell my 4what had happened that day, she5my unhappiness and asked if I wanted to take a walk in the yard.

    It was a lovely6day.  It was warm.  In the yard all the flowers came out. We could see lots of dandelions (蒲公英) dancing among the colorful flowers.  How beautiful they were! I watched my mother carelessly bend down by some flowers.  "I think I am going to7all the useless grass." She said.

    "But I like dandelions," I said, "All flowers are 8 —even dandelions".

    My mother looked at me9"Yes, every flower shines in its own way, doesn't it?" she said. I nodded. "So that is10of people, too." She added.

    She had guessed my11 I started to cry and told her the truth.

    "You will be a great narrator." She said. Then she told me 12I loved to read stories to her when I was in Grade One.

    Over the next few13I learned to take pride in the role. The big day finally14.A few minutes before the play, my teacher came over to me.  "Your mother asked me to give this to you," she said, passing me a dandelion.  After the play, I took the flower home, laughing that I was perhaps15 person who would keep such a common dandelion.

    London is such a wonderful city. It is very large. The Thames River runs 1the city from west to east. So the city has 2 parts: the South and the North. In the North, there are important buildings, shops, big parks and interesting places. The3in London is good. In winter it is not very cold and in summer it is not very hot 4 the city is near the sea. People say London is a foggy city and it often rains. It is true. Last year, when I 5 in London, I met one of the thickest fogs in years. You could hardly see your hand in front of your face. Cars and buses moved 6 with their lights on. When evening fell, the weather got even 7. The fog was as thick as milk.8 the buses and cars stopped. I happened 9 an important meeting on the other side of the town, but it was impossible to find a car. I had to get there 10.

    One day a young lady was driving along with her father. They met a strong 1, and the young lady 2 her father. "What should I do?" Her father said. "Keep driving. "

But later. many cars began to pull over (向路边停靠)3  the storm was getting worse and worse. "What should I do?" the young lady asked her father again. "Keep driving. " her father replied 4  the same answer.

    After driving a few miles, she 5  that more cars were also pulling over. She told her father. "I must pull over. I can 6  see ahead. It is terrible, and everyone is pulling over!" Her father told her. "Don't give up. Just keep driving. "

    After a couple of miles she was again on dry land. 7 the sun came out. Her father said. "Now you can pull over and get out. " She asked. "8  now?" Her father said. "Look back at all the people that gave up. They are 9 in the storm. Because you didn't give up your storm is now over. "

    When you 10 hard times, keep going and soon your storm will be over and the sun will shine upon your face again.

    It is 1 Saturday morning. Helen and 2 brother, Tom, are taking a walk in the zoo. There are 3 of public signs in the park. They mean different things. Helen knows a lot 4 them. But Tom5.

    Suddenly Helen 6 a boy climb the tree. She shouts at that boy,"7 climb the tree.8 you see the sign over there？"The boy jumps off the tree soon. Tom points 9the sign in the garden and says to Helen," So the sign over there10 we shouldn't climb trees, right?"

My husband, Tyler, and I decided to raise a guide dog puppy (幼犬). After attending several meetings with Anina Green, the guide dog club leader, I eagerly signed up to become a raiser and patiently waited for the arrival of my puppy. Then, one day, Anina informed me that I would get my puppy on April 27.

That day, Tyler and I went to Anina's house. In the kitchen, we saw the puppy. Escort, sleeping on the floor. Holding him for the first time was magical. He was so soft and sleepy—and huge! Escort was larger than a lot of full-grown dogs.

We attended a weekly puppy kindergarten to learn how to train Escort. From the time we got the puppy until he was about 6 months old, he was on a leash (牵引绳). When we were watching TV on the sofa or brushing teeth, the leash was always in our hands. During the first eight weeks. Tyler and I mostly stayed at home, taught Escort orders, and held his leash.

The guide dog club is really like a family—a family with a lot of wonderful, well-behaved dogs. We traveled to various places together with these dogs. Escort's first group outing was a trip to tour the city museum. We also went to a shopping mall, a baseball game. a fire station, and the airport to practice going through security. With all the help from our club, Escort went from a sleepy little puppy to a dependable companion (伙伴) when he was 8 months old.

When Escort was one year old, he could walk with a perfect loose (松的) leash, follow our orders and always make the right choices. It was time for us to drop him off at the Guide Dogs for the Blind campus to go through more formal (正式的) guide training and get matched with someone who needed him. We had fallen in love with the puppy and couldn't bear giving him away. but we had to say goodbye to him.

When I see pictures of Escort with the woman he has been placed with. I feel very happy. It doesn't hurt that he's not with me—seeing him going on adventures with his new owner every day makes it all worth it. The thought that he will improve her life makes me very proud.

One afternoon, an old dog ran into Mike's yard. The dog did not look hungry or sick, just very 1 . Mike gave the dog a few pats（轻拍）on the head. The dog followed Mike into the house,2 walked down the hall and fell asleep in the corner.

An hour later the dog woke up, walked to the door and went out. The next afternoon the dog 3 . Once again the dog followed Mike into the house and 4 in the corner for an hour. It was the 5 story the next afternoon. Ben was very curious （好奇）. "What's up with this dog?" he wondered. Then he had an 6 . Mike put a 7 on the neck:

To the owner of this dog,

Do you know that your dog comes to my house every 8 and sleeps for a while? Why?

The dog lives in a home with six children. Three of them are under the age of two. It's trying to have a room to sleep in. It can't 10 a quiet place here. Neither can I! Can I come with it tomorrow?
