When we talk about the universe, we mean not only the sun, the earth, the starts, but also the moon. Do you know1 about the moon? The moon is smaller than the earth, but the sun is much bigger than the earth. The moon is2 from the earth. It's 380,000 kilometers away. On the earth we see that the moon3 like a cake. It is round. There is4 air or water on the moon, so there is no living5 there. The side of the moon towards (朝，向)the sun is very hot, while the other side is very6. People can jump7 on the moon than on the earth and we can walk very8 there. It takes more than three days to get to the moon9spaceship (宇宙飞船). Now some countries including10 can fly to the moon. I'm sure we can go to the moon in the future one day.

Jenny is excited to go to school these days. The 13-year-old girl from South Gate Middle School in Los Angeles, US, is taking care of three green abalones(鲍鱼) at school.

The students of Violeta Llamas' science class, including Jenny, have cared for the sea animals since January. The science class has eight teams. Each team takes turns to care for the abalones. Team Five—Jenny, Alexis, Jennifer and Ricardo—have now got their turn.

The abalones are kept in a box of seawater. Every day, Alexis checks if the water has too much salt. Too much salt is bad for the health of the abalones. Jenny makes fresh seawater. Then the four students work together to clean up the waste in the box and give some food to the abalones.

    "Sea life is like a baby. You have to clean them and care for them. " Jennifer said.

Nancy Cruso, a scientist, leads the project. She said the number of green abalones is going down because people have caught too many of them. She said protecting the sea lives now depends on the young students.

"The students love taking care of the abalones. " said Llamas.

"Taking care of the abalones could open the door for those who want to be a sea life scientist or an environment protector," she said.

The students' time with the abalones will end this school year. Cruso and a team of volunteers will record the abalones and then let them return to the sea.

You never know where life will lead you. When I was a young boy, I got 1 up my nose one time. After that I 2 wanted to get in the water again. I thought swimming was not for me. One day, I 3 my skateboard and broke my leg so badly, and the doctors said I could never really skateboard again. They said swimming was the only 4 that would be good for me. Well, I gave it a 5 . Every week, I got a little 6 and hated swimming a little less. I worked at it so much that one day my high school swimming coach asked me to 7 the school team. You can imagine how that made me and my family feel 8 I was so afraid of the water before! Much to everyone's surprise, I won third place in the city finals. 9 is a big part of my life now. You never know which road life will take you down. Look at me — a swimmer! For this reason, I say: don't limit(限制) your 10 . And remember, life is a swimming pool. Jump in and start swimming! You might be surprised at where you end up. 

Helen Keller was a writer, lecturer, and great educator. She was born in 1880. She lost her sight and hearing at the age of nineteen months because of an illness now believed to be scarlet fever (猩红热). Before her illness, Helen was a wise and happy girl. After she lost her ability of seeing and hearing, she became difficult and wild. She often shouted and cried. In 1887, a young teacher named Anne Sullivan began to help Helen.

Through Sullivan's careful instruction, the little girl learnt to understand and communicate with the world around her. She  ▲  Sullivan to read and write in braille (盲文). She could understand only by touch. As Helen grew older, she made good progress and learnt to read more. She also learnt to write and even speak. When Helen studied in the university, Anne sat beside her. She listened to the professors' words and spelt them on Helen's hands. 

 After Helen finished university, she visited a lot of countries. She spoke about her life. She was famous for her courage and hard work. She tried her best to help other people who were blind or deaf. Her first book The Story of My Lifewas printed in many languages. And her other four books were published later on.

We are healthy. We can know and think what's going on around us. While Helen was blind and deaf, she never let her blindness and deafness prevent (阻止) her from achieving success. And this gives me hope for life.
