How much do you know about "Taobao"? Do you often buy goods(商品)online? During every big festival hundreds of millions of dollars is spent online. "Who needs a shopping mall if you have Taobao? I am a Taobaoer，" says Wang Fang, 28, a writer in Beijing. Taobao, China's largest online shopping site(场所)，has become an important part of Wang Fang's life. Half of her salary(薪水)is usually spent on Taobao.

Yuju Opera, also called Henan Bangzi, is one of the most popular local operas all over the country.

Its earliest written record can be dated back more than 200 years. At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the opera became widely spread across Henan Province. After 1949, it experienced rapid growth. At first, small performances were held in tea houses in the city of Kaifeng. Then it spread not only in the villages and cities of Henan Province but also all over the country. It became the third most popular style of Chinese opera in the country, just behind Peking Opera and Yue Opera.

There are over 600 pieces of Yuju Opera. The most popular of which are The Command MuGuiying and HuaMulan. While The Command MuGuiying is a folk tale that is not well-known outside of China, the story of Hua Mulan became the classic Disney film Mulan. It tells the tale of a young woman. She defies tradition and takes her elderly father's place in the army by dressing herself as a man. After 12 years of war, she is honored for her service and is able to return home. Mulan was the brave warrior (战士)!

With the popularity of Liyuan Spring and other programs, Yuju Opera also shows its new power and catches more young people's eyes.

Zhang Ping's story becomes a hot topic on the Internet now. Zhang Ping is 39 1 old. She is from a village in Shanxi province. These days, some videos of her have become 2 on the Internet. In these videos, she talks to foreigners in English fluently(流利地) and 3 .

Kaitlin Riffel's dream to end poverty(贫困) started when she was visiting her father, who worked for the homeless.

"I never realized there were people in the world who didn't have a home or food before," said Kaitlin. who is now sixteen. "I knew there was something I had to do about that."

At the age of eight, she started raising money to build a playground. "It took me two years," Kaitlin said. "We started small. We wanted to do something to make a difference."

In 2014, when Kaitlin was thirteen, she visited Central America, and saw people going hungry and families living in houses made of cardboard. That year, she set up Kids on a Mission, which has helped hundreds of people there.

"The rooms were smaller than my bedroom, but there would be eight people living in each one," Kaitlin said. "We also got to see the dirty rivers that those people were drinking out of."

Providing clean drinking water, food and clothes for people living in poverty is now an important task for Kids on a Mission. "This young lady is changing the hearts of people, and also changing the world," said the headmaster of Kaitlin's school.

Two brothers planned a two- day trip in a forest and soon they were lost. They were far from home. But they knew how to camp. The older brother went to look for firewood (木柴). The younger brother went to look for food and water, but he could not find anything. He was very tired, so he sat down to have a rest. 

He noticed a bird in the tree next to him. Then he heard a voice, "I know where your parents are! I know where your parents are!"

Wondering who was talking, the boy looked around. He got so confused (迷惑的) when he saw nobody. Then he heard the words again. Suddenly, he came to know that the bird was talking to him!

The young boy looked at the bird. He said, "Can you really help us get home?"

She said, "Yes, I can. I know the village you live in. I can take you back there. I only ask for three insects (昆虫) to eat. That will give me the strength (力气) to guide you home."

The next morning, the boys followed the bird home. It took them many days. When the boys got home, they and their parents were very happy to see each other again. The parents had been sad since the boys left. The family decided that they would always feed hungry birds. 

Old wives' tales are pieces of advice that are supposed to solve common problems such as the medical ones or some problems at home. They are usually passed down through talking，and there are only a few having been written down. Some of them sound ridiculous and have no scientific meaning at all，just like jokes，while others are more reasonable，which are realized to be true. 

Often，old wives' tales take the form of warnings and are a way to prevent poor behavior in children. For example， "Eating candy before bedtime brings you bad dreams" is a common old wives' tale that was probably thought up to stop children from eating too many unhealthy snacks. Similarly， "If you've been lying，your nose will be longer" is a trick trying to get naughty children to tell the truth. 

Other old wives' tales want to give advice about how to keep away from illnesses. "If you go outside with wet hair，you'll catch a cold" is an old wives' tale that's still commonly heard today. However，colds are not caused by cold weather or wet hair. Instead，they are caused by viruses （病毒）. 

"Feed a cold，starve a fever" means that you should eat plenty of food when you have a cold，but not eat when you have a fever. This piece probably comes from the fact that people with a fever usually lose their appetite （胃口） anyway. Medical science has found that the body stops eating much when you have a fever because little food makes your immune system （免疫系统） fight bacterial infections （细菌感染），while eating a little more makes your immune system fight against viruses，like colds. 

There are hundreds of old wives' tales. Although there may be truth in a few of them，if you bear one，it's best not to take it too seriously.
