Terry is 65 years old this year. He is from America. He makes a tree house for his family this year. It's very beautiful.

The tree house is in his back yard with two beds, ten seats and a BBQ. It can hold (容纳) ten people. It is big and brown. Terry spends six months making the tree house. And he gets some help from his good friends.

Terry's friends also like this tree house very much. They often have fun in it. They talk, play games, and listen to music together. "I am happy to share the tree house with my family and my friends." Terry says.

People call him "World's Best Grandpa". Do you know why? Because he makes a cool tree house for his family.

Today, roller-skating is easy and fun. But a long time ago, it wasn't 1  at all. Before 1760, no one had any ideas of roller-skating. That 2  because of a man named Joseph Merlin. He liked to make things and play the violin in his free time. Joseph Merlin was a man full of ideas and dreams. People called him a 3 . 

One day Joseph Merlin was invited to a 4 . He was very pleased and excited. As the day of the party came near, Joseph Merlin began to think 5  he could make an amazing entrance(登场) at the party. He had an idea. He thought everyone at the party would show much interest if he could 6  into the room. 

Joseph Merlin tried different ways to make 7  roll. Finally, he decided to put two wheels 8  each shoe. These were the first roller skates. Joseph Merlin was 9  of his invention. And he dreamed of arriving at the party on wheels while playing the 10 . 

On the night of the party, Joseph Merlin rolled into the room playing his violin happily. Everyone was 11  to see him. But there was just one problem. Joseph Merlin couldn't 12  his roller skates. He rolled on and on. 13 , he ran into a huge mirror that was hanging on the wall. The mirror fell down and broke into pieces. Joseph Merlin's idea was so good that 14  forgot his special entrance for a long time. But could he 15  the problem of stopping his roller skates?

Five years ago, my mother, gave birth to a brother for me when I was 8. I have learned a lot from getting along with him. 

After he was born, I almost became a babysitter. I had to amuse him after school. I would make faces and sing to him when he was crying. Sometimes I even carried him everywhere in our yard to refresh him while my parents were busy. What I liked to do best was to feed him when looking after him. How cute he was as he tasted his favorite food! My parents often praised me happily, " As an elder brother, you've made contributions to looking after your younger brother. "

I have got happiness from sharing. When I was young, I was the only child in my family. I could get what I wanted from my parents and get my parents' whole love. I was a "Little Emperor". 

But now, as long as I get something good, I will share it with him. I remembered the year when he was three, he was fond of Rubik's cubes(魔方). I bought one for him with my lucky money as a birthday present When he got the toy, he was so happy that he laughed, hugged me and said, "Brother, I love you!

Thanks for spending these years together, with my family. It has taught me what responsibility means, what unselfishness means and what friendship means. 

Not only should I look after myself, but also I should pay attention to my family and my friends. 

I stood by the window, Looking at the gray sky and snowy ground. A woman crossed the street, with a thick scarf, looking cold and unhappy.

 The morning was ideal for reading, so I turned on the light and lay in bed with a book. The phone rang, and I heard my mum agree to something, mentioning my name. Curious,I wondered what was happening.

 Mum entered and told me Uncle Sam was taking me to Sparrow Hills. Unwilling to leave on such a cold day,I hesitated(犹豫) but didn't want to disappoint Mum, so I put on my blue sweater. The doorbell rang, and Uncle Sam asked if I was ready.

"I suppose," I replied, grabbing a warm wool hat. We headed to the station, catching the train to Sparrow Hills. The train is warm, and my body started to relax.

"Can we just stay on the train?" I said as the train stopped. Uncle Sam softly pulled me up and said, "You will miss all the fun."

 Outside, the wind was blowing strongly. The trees were shining and they swung in the wind.

"I don't know how long I can stay out here," I said as we started to walk uphill. He pulled me closer to the trees and said, "Listen!"

 At first, I heard only the wind. Then came a jingling and chiming(叮叮当当). "That's the music in winter," My uncle said. I pulled my hat up to free my cars. The branches(树枝) sounded like hundreds of bells ringing, jingling and chiming. I was surprised and I stood still, looking at the icy branches hitting each other and leaves swinging in the wind. Then we climbed to the top of Sparrow Hills and looked down. The snow-covered trees made buildings appear brighter. Then the sun broke through the clouds.

"The sun is shining!" I shouted. Uncle Sam smiled and said, "The sun is always shining. You just need to climb high enough to see it."

The Sahara Desert in Northern Africa is the largest hot desert in the world. It is about 1，800km from the north to the south and about 4，800 km from the east to the west. Temperatures can reach 58℃ in the daytime and can fall to ﹣6℃ at night. More than 8，000 years ago，the Sahara was a rich land where farmers grew food and plants grew well. As the rainfall in the area gradually went down every year，it became a huge desert. Most areas of this desert have less than 13 cm of rain every year. 

Gary Smith and a few of his brave friends decided to hike across the Sahara. Supporters in cars，who carried food and water for the group，stayed with them together. 

One day，Smith walked alone and then he couldn't find the rest of the group. Even worse，he could not find out which direction to go. Then a sandstorm covered the area. When the storm was over，Smith was even more worried. In the heat that he couldn't stand，he quickly finished his water. He had to spend that night out in the open，and he almost felt he couldn't survive （生存）. 

The next day，he walked on. After the second night，he started to worry about dying. He realized that his friends might not find him in time. It was late on the third day that Smith lost his sense and fell over. 

When Smith awoke，he was in the car with his friends. He had been found by a group of Bedouin who were traveling in a truck. In such a large desert with the weather conditions， this made it possible for him to survive. Then Bedouin returned to his group of friends. Smith was so lucky.
