阅读理解

Getting into the habit of giving and receiving helps build good relationships(关系).

It makes us feel more care. It stops stress(压力)from building because we know someone else is thinking about us. And if there is a problem, we're sharing it before it gets too big. It just feels great to help.

Try these small things at home, and see how they make you feel:

⒈ Help your little brother or sister with a homework problem.

⒉ Help your mom prepare dinner.

⒊ Help your dad carry living goods.

⒋ Offer to do a chore that is not usually yours.

There is more to it than just feeling good: kindness is contagious(有感染力的). It can create more kindness, so you might start to notice your friends reaching out to help more.

Just don't fail into the trap(陷阱) of expectation. If we help out only because we expect other persons to do something in return(回报), we will probably end up feeling disappointed and angry instead of feeling satisfied and happy. So decide to help simply because of helpful feelings it creates. Then, when someone else does something nice for you, it is a wonderful surprise.

Giving and receiving is one of the most basic friendship skills. With a good network of supportive people, we are less stressed. We feel loved and understood, so we are better able to solve problems, bounce(弹) back from disappointments and try again.

I stood by the window, looking at the gray sky and snowy ground. A woman crossed the street, with a thick scarf, looking cold and unhappy.

The morning was ideal for reading, so I turned on the light and lay in bed with a book. The phone rang, and I heard my mum agree to something, mentioning my name. Curious, I wondered what was happening.

Mum entered and told me Uncle Sam was taking me to Sparrow Hills. Unwilling to leave on such a cold day, I hesitated(犹豫) but didn't want to disappoint Mum, so I put on my blue sweater. The doorbell rang, and Uncle Sam asked if I was ready.

"I suppose," I replied, grabbing a warm wool hat. We headed to the station, catching the train to Sparrow Hills. The train was warm, and my body started to relax.

" Can we just stay on the train?" I said as the train stopped. Uncle Sam softly pulled me up and said," You will miss all the fun."

Outside, the wind was blowing strongly. The trees were shining and they s wung in the wind.

"I don't know how long I can stay out here," I said as we started to walk uphill. He pulled me closer to the trees and said," Listen!"

At first, I heard only the wind. Then came a jingling and chiming(叮叮当当)." That's the music in winter," my uncle said. I pulled my hat up to free my ears. The branches(树枝) sounded like hundreds of bells ringing, jingling and chiming. I was surprised and I stood still, looking at the icy branches hitting each other and leaves swinging in the wind. Then we climbed to the top of Sparrow Hills and looked down. The snow- covered trees made buildings appear brighter. Then the sun broke through the clouds.

" The sun is shining!" I shouted. Uncle Sam smiled and said," The sun is always shining. You just need to climb high enough to see it."

 请阅读短文,从每小题所给的四个选项中选出能回答所提问题或完成所给句子的最佳答案。

It's said that about 4% of people sleepwalk(梦游) at night during their lives. That is, you or some of your families and friends have done so. Sleepwalking happens while one is sleeping. Sleepwalkers walk slowly around the house, say something and then go back to sleep. Their eyes are usually open and look right at you as if they were awake. The next day, they remember nothing when they are asked about what happened the night before.

Sleepwalking is a common problem for many children from 4 to 12 years old. It could run in family. If one of the parents is a sleepwalker, their children may be, too. Scientists still don't know why people sleepwalk, but they find common facts that may lead to sleepwalking. For example, if one is under stress, gets sick or doesn't have enough sleep, he or she will have more chances to sleepwalk. Sleepwalking itself isn't bad, but it may make sleepwalkers get hurt because they are in fact"sleeping" and don't know what they are doing. It is important to keep sleepwalkers from falling down, running into something and even walking out to drive.

What can we do for sleepwalkers? First, try not to wake up a sleepwalker because it may make him or her scared. All you have to do is to show the sleepwalker the way back to bed. Second, close the windows and doors to stop sleepwalkers from going out. Third, keep any things that may hurt the sleepwalkers away. Remember, if you find someone sleepwalking, the most important thing is to make sure he or she is safe.
