Late last night, or early this morning, something terrible happened in East Town. Mr Raymond Johnson has lived in East Town and has worked there as a manager for many years. He is forty-two years old, unmarried, and he lives in a big wooden house on Moonlight Road. The people of East Town know Mr Johnson as an unusual man. He does not often leave his house, but his business has made him very rich. Last night, at about midnight, a man who was out walking saw that one of Mr Johnson's rooms was on fire. He immediately called the fire station, and the firemen arrived soon after. It took them half an hour to put out the fire. The firemen were surprised that Mr Johnson did not come out of the house, and two of them went inside to look for him. But Mr Johnson was not in the house. In the

bedroom the two men found an open safe（保险箱）, which was empty. There were papers on the floor. Mr Johnson's bedroom windows on the ground floor of the house were open. The firemen also found a set of keys in the room. The police then found out that the keys belonged to Mr Paul White, who visited Mr Johnson at his home yesterday evening. The police are sure that they know the motive（动机）for the crime and are looking for Mr White. The police are puzzled because nobody knows where Mr Johnson is.

    Health is more important than money and wisdom (智慧). Good health helps us enjoy our life and get what we need. How can we stay healthy? Here is some helpful advice（建议）.

● Eat more fruit and vegetables. They are full of vitamins. And they can help us keep healthy and young.

● Keep a balanced diet and good eating habits. Eat less food with lots of sugar and fat(脂肪). Eat lots of food high in protein (蛋白质).

● Exercise every day. Doing sports can help us make our bodies strong.

● Learn to relax ourselves. Being too tired all the time may make us get sick easily.

● Give up bad habits(习惯), such as drinking and smoking.

In a word, if we do this way, we'll live a healthy life and get fit.

Excellent English food at the Country House

    Last Saturday night，my family and I ate at the Country House．

    The Country House serves traditional English food，we paid about 15 to 20 pounds a person to eat there．

    The food was wonderful．The fish pie reminded me of my grandma．She used to cook it for me．I also had some fish and chips，and it was fantastic．

    The waiters were polite，but a little slow．We were seated at 7 p．m．，but we did not receive our food until 7：40 p．m．

    I would certainly recommend the Country House for good，traditional English food．However，you should get there early and be prepared to spend a lot of time waiting for your food．

    Do you ever wish you were as thin as a model(模特) or as strong as your favourite football player? Maybe you wish you were taller or just thinner a little. Those thoughts are a natural part of growing up.

    But learning what you can and can't change about your body is part of growing up, too. It can be hard to do. But when people accept the way they look, they often feel happier.

    Some children worry that they're not growing and developing as fast as their friends. It's important to know that puberty(青春期) doesn't happen at the same time for every child. And there are no special medicines that can make it happen sooner!

    Eating healthy foods and exercising more can make all children feel better. Why? Because they will help you feel energetic (精力充沛的) and keep your body working just the way it should be. Watching TV and playing computer games can be fun, but they don't do much for your body because you sit when you do them.

    But when you move your body—by playing, dancing, taking part in sports, or even cleaning your room—you exercise your muscles(肌肉). When you exercise the muscle, it gets stronger. And when you have strong muscles, you can do whatever you want to do!

My sister Molly is singing And Selina is playing the guitar for her. Selina's father is a music teacher and he teaches Selina to play the guitar. Dave is talking about basketball with my brother. Where am I? I'm in front of Dave.

It was five to nine on Sunday evening. Cindy was in the kitchen. She stood there and thought happily," My parents will be home soon,"{#blank#}1{#/blank#}For the first time she made a cake for her mother, so it didn't look so good.

The kitchen was in a mess(杂乱). {#blank#}2{#/blank#}She turned off all the lights and waited excitedly in the dark. Later, she heard the key getting into the door.{#blank#}3{#/blank#}

When her parents were walking in quietly, Cindy turned on the lights suddenly(突然) and said to her mother, "Happy Birthday, Mom!" A chocolate cake was waiting for them on the table.

"But Mom, I only wanted to make a..."

"Dear, "said Cindy's father, "please take a look at the table. What is that?"

"I know- it's a mess, a big mess," Cindy's mother said angrily(生气地)."I have to clean it. I'm too tired to say a word, and I can't stand looking at the table. How... !"

Cindy was not happy. She didn't think mother liked the chocolate cake.

Just then her mother saw the chocolate cake on the table.

Cindy's mother ran to her at once and said, "Sorry, my dear. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}" Then they sat down and shared the cake. They were so happy.
