I was once asked to give a speech in English in front of several native speakers at an organization last summer. I was asked to talk about my experience. At the beginning, I explained to the organizers that I was afraid to speak without preparation. But they told me that I had better get over it. When I first stood up in front of the crowd, my mind went completely blank. But then I began to talk about my story and used some gestures and facial expressions. Although I didn't speak very well, I still did it.

    To be honest, I wasn't a brave girl. I still slept with my mother until I was a sixth-grader, because I didn't dare to sleep alone. Last year, one evening after I came back from school, my mom asked me to sleep in my own room. I thought I had grown up, so I should learn to be independent. Though I was frightened at first, I slept in my own room for the first time. I did it. I'm really proud of myself! This is the bravest thing I have ever done.

I didn't dare to ride the roller coaster all the time. I thought it was a terrible thing. However, my friend asked me to try it when we were in Disneyland, in Hong Kong last year. I decided to take a try. It took off so fast. It was a cool feeling, like you were flying! That was extremely good fun. Someone once said, "Life is a roller coaster ride, tighten your seat belts, enjoy the journey, remember the up always has a down." That is right. I have fallen in love with the roller coaster.

    A young American doctor was sleeping when suddenly his door bell began to ring. It was already midnight, but what could the doctor do? He had to get up, put on his coat and go downstairs.

    When he opened the door, he saw a man standing with a hat in his hand. “ How do you do, doctor?” said the man. “ Can you come at once to a place out of town? It is quite far, but you have a car and I can show you the way.”

    “Certainly,” said the doctor, “ I am quite ready, I can come at once.” In a few minutes, the car was standing at the front door, the man got on the doctor's car. And they drove off.

    They drove on for a long time, and then the man said, “ Here we are. This is my house. Now I can pay you and you can go back to town.”

    “But I must see the patient,” the doctor said. “How can I go back without seeing the patient? Where is the patient?”

    “There is no patient,” explained the man. “Nobody is ill. I live here, you see, and one must get home from a town, mustn't he? There are no taxis at this time of the night, but a doctor often makes night calls, so excuse me. Here is your money. Thank you, doctor. Good night.”

    Once a little boy named Tom always felt lonely and unhappy. One day he decided to meet love. He started off with some food and drinks in the early morning. When he passed through a small park, he saw an old woman watching some flowers. She looked a little hungry. He gave her a sandwich. She gave him a smile and ate it. The smile was very beautiful. He wanted to see it again. So he gave her another sandwich. She smiled at him once again. Tom was very happy and sat down beside her.

    They sat there for a long time, eating and smiling, but said nothing. When it grew dark.Tom decided to go home. After he had gone a few steps, he turned around, ran back and gave the old woman a hug(拥抱). And she gave him the biggest smile ever.

    When Tom came back home his mother was amazed at the joy(快乐)on his face. "Tom, why are you so happy?" asked the mother. "I had lunch with love, and she has the most beautiful smile in the world. ”

    Also the old woman's daughter was amazed at her mother's pleasure. “Mum, what has made you so happy?"asked the daughter. "I ate some sandwiches with love and he is much younger than I expected,"the old woman answered.

    My sister and I went to an art museum last weekend. The museum was having a two-week show. Lots of very old artworks from two cities in Italy were on show.

    I liked one of the paintings best. The light on the woman's dress made it look as if she was really sitting there. A note on the wall told me about the artist and the painting. I was also interested in a very old sculpture(雕像). Parts of it had broken off. But I could still see how the man looked.

    There were quite a lot of paintings in the museum. Some paintings were stored away (保存). We saw them on the computer. The computer had a note about each painting and artist.

    After enjoying the artworks, we went to a room with costumes (戏装) in the museum. There my sister dressed up like one of the people in the old paintings. That was her favourite part of visiting the museum.

    In the museum, we also made art ourselves. I drew some flowers. And my sister drew a cute cat.

    At last we went to a gift shop in the museum. My sister chose a book for kids, and I chose a little sculpture.

    My sister and I were tired, but we had fun. I hope there can be more shows as exciting as this one in the museum.
