Since humans sent the first satellite（卫星） to space in the 1950s，scientists have been studying an important topic：how to grow plants in space if humans live there one day.A recent experiment at the Tiangong space station makes a big step forward.

Chinese astronauts have successfully grown rice seedlings（幼苗） during the Shenzhou XIV mission.The researcher said，"The rice seedlings are growing very well."Since the rice experiment began on July 29，the seedlings of the tall shoot rice variety（高杆水稻品种） have reached a height of 30 centimeters.The seedlings of the dwarf rice variety（矮杆水稻品种） have grown to 5 centimeters，China Daily reported on August 30，2022.

While there have been other rice experiments in space，this one is the first of its kind to produce the complete life cycle of a plant—it begins with a seed and ends with a grown plant producing new seeds.

Such food﹣growing experiments are not for astronauts.They can solve food problems on Earth.By sending seeds to space，we can create mutated（突变的） seeds that can produce higher yields（产量）on Earth.

For more than 30 years，China has developed over 260 new types of seeds in space.They are planted on Earth every year.

According to Yao Tong，an engineer from Hainan Aerospace Engineering Breeding Research Center，30%of strawberries sold in Beijing are "space strawberries"，which are as big as eggs.The center has also produced "space tomatoes"with yields increased by 30%，and "space bananas"with a growth cycle shortened from 13 months to 9 months.

A mystery box (盲盒) keeps what's inside a secret. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} But now shops are putting food in them—they are "leftover mystery boxes".

The food inside is near its expiration date (保质期) and will be thrown away if no one buys it. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} They are more and more popular in China's cities, such as Beijing, Nanjing and Chengdu.

In 2021 when I was studying in the UK, I bought leftover mystery boxes from an app called Too Good To Go. Each box cost about 3 to 5 pounds (27 to 45 yuan), and there were usually three to four things inside. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} The box cost 3 pounds but the original price (原价) was around 10 pounds.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#} I felt happy to see kinds of food in it and then I would be happier thinking about how much money I saved. And it helped to cut down wasting of food.

{#blank#}5{#/blank#} Because I can't choose what's in the box, sometimes I got the same kind of food. I had to make other dishes, such as a salad, to make the meal healthier.

①At school, students usually learn many subjects in the classroom like English, math and so on. Now there is a new one in some schools—school gardening (园艺). It is an outdoor (户外) subject. In the gardening class, teachers teach students different kinds of vegetables and how to grow (种) them. Then students work in groups. 

②____ Why? Because they can have much fun in this class. They don't have to sit at their desks in the classroom all day. They can get out, get their hands dirty, do things with their own (自己的) hands and relax. 

③It's also fun to get something to eat and see. In some schools, students like to grow carrots and tomatoes. It's always interesting for them to get a carrot or a tomato, wash it and eat it right in the garden. In some schools, students like to grow flowers (花). When it's spring, all the flowers come out and they're really beautiful. Students like to walk and talk in the beauty. That's their favorite thing to do after busy hours of work. 

④Only fun from the classes? Of course not. Students can learn something, too. Keeping a school garden is difficult and all the students in the group need to come and help. This teaches students teamwork. Also, some vegetables are easy to grow, but others need a long time. This teaches students they need to wait (等待) before they get the things they want. 

⑤There may (可能) be many other good things about school gardening. But one thing is for sure—students really love having outdoor classes.

You may think that students in the US have little homework or they don't work hard at school. You may also think that they have few rules or their teachers are not strict at all. When I went to school in the US, I found that not all these things were true. Let's take a look at a day at my school.

Take classes. All the students should take classes seriously( 认 真 地 ) . They know their strength(长处) and try to be better at it. They ask lots of questions in class. Grades mean a lot to them. There are lots of rules at school. Sometimes, they can't even use nicknames(绰号).

Do after- school activities. School is over. There is little homework, but there is more to do. There are a lot of after- school activities , like drama(戏剧), sports , art, debate(辩论) and more. In China, many

students do after- school activities just once a week. But students in the US do them for a few hours a day, every day of the week.

Students in the US might have more free time than those in China, but they are hard workers, too.

What is the perfect(完美的)life like? And what should we do to reach that?

We all hope to be healthy, to have much energy(能量)and to live healthily and happily. Today, with the quick development of medical science, the quality of our health can be better and the life will be much healthier and more beautiful! It's reported that people with excellent health habits are far healthier, have more energy, and live longer and better than people who have poor health habits. 

It's really important for us to enjoy excellent relationships with the people we like and respect(尊敬), and they like, love and respect us in turn. Fully 85% of your happiness will be decided by the quality of your relationships at each time, and in each place, of your life. How well you get along with people and how much they like, love and respect you, have more effect on quality of your life than perhaps any other reason. 

It's essential to do work that we enjoy, to do it well, and to be paid for it. You want to be able to get and keep the job you want, to be paid more. You want to make the very most that is possible for you at each area(领域), whatever you do. 

It's a great feeling to achieve financial independence(经济独立). You want to reach the point in life where you have enough money so you never have any financial worries. You want to be really free of them.
