Most of us have three meals a day .We take food for granted(想当然)。And we don't think about it. 1 experts argue a food crisis(危机)is coming.This crisis is going to make us 2 the way we think about food.

 Food is in great need 3a growing of world population.By 1960,the population was three billion.It doubled to six billion by 1999.By 2050,this planet will need to  4 at least nine billion people.As a result,the food prices get higher and higher.

 So,what can a   5 ,crowed world do?One suggestion is to eat less meat.Meat uses more natural resources(资源)than grains(谷物) .It requires more  6  to produce one pound of meat than to produce one pound of grain. It also requires between 5 and 10 times more water than vegetables. So ,eating less meat will  7  more land for farming,and it will save water.

 To eat less meat,people will need to change their eating habits. That will not be easy. Americans, for example,have 8 loved meat.  In general, They eat twice as much meat as people in other countries.At the same time,in developing countries like China and Brazil,sales of meat have doubled in the last 20 years.   9  will double again by 2050.Growing need of meat wil continue to put pressure on natural resources.

 World  population is increasing,resources are becoming fewer,and food prices are rising.Therefore, we need to rethink what  we eat every day. For meat lovers, we don't  need to give up meat  10 .But we need to eat more grains and less meat.

    It's March 12^th. Li Li and Lin Tao are digging on a hill nor far from their school. In China, people across the country plant trees1on this day.

    The idea of planting trees was first put forward in 1911 by Sun Zhongshan, the great2 in China's history. He said more trees were needed as a3against flood(洪水)and drought. In 1915, April 5^th was named as Tree Planting Day. Then, in 1979, the day4to March 12^th, to 5the date on which Sun Zhongshan died.

    "Everyone has heard of the Great Wall of China," says Li Li. "But have you heard of the Green Wall of China? That's the biggest tree planting 6 of all. "The Gobi Desert in the north of China was 7every year. So in 1978, a tree planting project was started to 8 Gobi spreading. The government and local farmers have been planting millions of trees to build a great green "wall" along the edge of the desert.

    "Tree planting has become a tradition in China now," says Lin Tao. "Almost everyone does it on March 12th. Many people also plant a tree on a 9 day. My parents planted a tree when started school. And my cousin planted 10 on his wedding (婚礼) day. We do it for the environment and for ourselves."

Yang Jiang, the famous woman writer and translator (翻译家), is well- known to us all. 

Yang was born in Beijing in 1911. Her real name is Yang Jikang. She graduated from university and went to Tsinghua University as a postgraduate (研究生) in the 1930s. There she met Qian Zhongshu. They fell in love and got married. In the 1940s, she started to use the name Yang Jiang as her pen name. Since then, she has been commonly known as Madam Yang Jiang. In the 1950s, she worked for Peking University and started to learn Spanish. She began to write short novels in the 1980s. Many of them are famous, such as The Old Wang (《老王》), After Baptism (《洗澡之后》) and We Three (《我们仨》).

Although Madam Yang has passed away, we will never forget the great madam.

If you have to take a bus to a place far away, try to get to the stop a few minutes{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(更早地) before the bus leaves. If you don't, you may not be able to catch the bus. On the bus, don't sit alone. Sit behind the driver or with other people. Don't sleep.

On a Saturday night in January, I was making my way to a sleepover at Nathan's house. This was going to be a wonderful adventure as I had never been to his place before. I had received the address, 39 Western Avenue, via text message. As I turned the corner and stepped onto Western Avenue, a large cloud moved in front of the moon, leaving a shadow (阴影) over everything.

In the dimness, I found it truly hard to see the house numbers clearly. However, not wanting to waste any time, I walked up the driveway of what I thought might be Nathan's house. I rang the bell and waited patiently, expecting someone to open the door and welcome me. But no one came. Thinking that perhaps they hadn't heard the first ring, I rang the bell again. After a few moments of waiting, I realized with a sinking feeling that I had made a mistake. I had gone to number 37 instead of 39.

Just then, the door of number 37 opened suddenly. The house was completely dark inside, so I could hardly see anything. Suddenly, there was a loud shout and a man rushed past me, running towards the street. Another man quickly followed him. They were in such a great hurry to leave that they dropped most of the things they were carrying. Curiosity (好奇心) getting the better of me, I picked up one of the items so that I could look at it more closely. To my surprise, it was a beautiful brooch. Right then, I understood what had been happening. These men must be thieves! Without hesitation (犹豫), I took out my phone and called the police.

I stood on the doorstep, anxiously waiting for what seemed like a long time. After five or ten minutes had passed, an unmarked police car finally arrived. Two policemen got out of the car. One of them immediately went into the house to look for clues while the other policeman asked me about the thieves. "You did extremely well," he said with admiration. "It was really ____ of you to interrupt (打断) those thieves and chase them away." I felt a sense of pride and relief knowing that I had done the right thing.
