People often ask me for suggestions about how to learn English. As for it, everyone is different. I'll share some of my experience. I once took a school year English course in Wuhan University, but I mostly learned English on my own.

One thing I can tell you is that, once you've started learning, you should try to think in English as much as you can. If you see something when you' re riding your bike or walking down the street, just think about, " How would I say them in English?" At first, it might be with simple words or phrases, but later you should think about longer phrases and sentences. Now I'm in America, and for most of the time, I would think in English and speak it directly. It's amazing how much this helps.

For several years after I started learning, I was often afraid of talking with others in English because I didn't want to make mistakes. Finally, I got it over. And while traveling in America, I'd try to hang out with friends who couldn't speak Chinese, so that I'd have no choice but to speak English. And I also decided that if I said something stupid and other people laughed at me, then so be it. After that, my English started improving much more quickly.

A group of American high school students built a bus stop shelter(遮蔽物) for a 5- year- old boy Ryder Killam.

There is something {#blank#}1{#/blank#} with Ryder's legs. Every morning, he has to wait for the school bus outside in his wheelchair(轮椅). {#blank#}2{#/blank#} it's only about 20 meters from his house to the bus stop, it is quite a long way for Ryder.

At first, Ryder's family {#blank#}3{#/blank#} up a big umbrella, so Ryder could sit under it when he waited. But it didn't {#blank#}4{#/blank#} when the weather was bad. They tried {#blank#}5{#/blank#} a few other ways but they hardly ever worked, either. They decided to ask the community for {#blank#}6{#/blank#}.

Some high school {#blank#}7{#/blank#} heard about the news and wanted to give the little boy a hand. They worked for weeks and built a nice shelter for Ryder. It is just like {#blank#}8{#/blank#} small house. Now, Ryder can stay in it when he waits for his school bus without (不用) worrying {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the bad weather.

" We are really happy to work for our community," one of the students said." And {#blank#}10{#/blank#} is pretty cool to help someone in need."

The Norwegian novelist，poet and playwright Jon Fosse was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Oct. 5，2023. 

Born in 1959 in Haugesund，Fosse grew up on a small farm in western Norway. He started writing poems and stories at the age of 12. But {#blank#}2{#/blank#} was his plays that made him famous. 

Unlike many traditional {#blank#}3{#/blank#} that focus on plots，characters and conflicts，Fosse's works show "tension of emotions". For example，in his first play Someone Is Going to Come，there is a man {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a woman seeking solitude(独处) in a remote seaside home. 

When he was asked what he wants to give to readers through his writing，Fosse said he hopes to show a feeling of peace. "I hope they can find a kind of {#blank#}5{#/blank#} from my writing，" he said. Fosse's unique style has helped him win many prizes. 

One evening, Brian told Mom that the boys at school had been laughing at him, because they knew he had to do the dishes every night at home. "I didn' t like it. Today 1 called me Cinderella," he said seriously. Mom could tell that Brian was 2 about what had happened. After dinner, Brian went straight upstairs, without stopping to 3 as usual. "I' ve got a lot of homework to do," he said. Mom was surprised but said nothing.

 When Brian got home from school the next day, he said 4 , "I' ve solved it, Mom." He had told the boys at school that he wouldn't do the dishes anymore, as he wasn't a 5 , "I'm not Cinderella," he said.

 The next morning, Brian came downstairs, ate his breakfast, 6 his lunchbox and set off to school as usual. But at noon he rushed into the 7 again. "Mom, there was nothing in my 8 !" he said. "How strange," Mom said. Brian 9 made himself two sandwiches and ran to school.

 That evening, before going to bed, Brian asked, "Mom, do you have a 10 pair of trousers for me? My laundry(洗衣) basket is full." Mom answered that she had been busy that day. The next evening 11 dinner, when Brian headed upstairs later to start his homework as usual, he came straight back down again. "Mom, my laundry basket is still full. Can you tell me 12 you will put a wash on?" he said. "Maybe tomorrow," Mom answered.

 All week long, 13 Brian kept asking his mom for things, Mom kept giving him almost the same answers. Until this afternoon after school, Brian got home and 14 his mom alone preparing dinner for the family, he suddenly got the 15 . Mom had been trying to tell him: he might not want to be Cinderella, but neither did his mom. After dinner, Brian did the dishes again himself.

Today is a big day for Chen Ming. His parents ask him to meet a new English teacher, Miss Green. 

"Miss Green is not in Beijing, " Mum says. "She is in London. You can have an English class with her on the computer. "

Chen thinks it is great. He sits in front of his computer and waits for Miss Green. It is time for class. He sees Miss Green—she has long brown hair and big blue eyes. Miss Green sings the Hello Song to Chen first. 

Then Miss Green says, "Hello, my name is Jenny Green. What's your name?"

"Hello, Miss Green! My name is Chen Ming, " Chen says. 

"Nice to meet you here. Let's learn how to learn English well today. . . "

The class is very interesting. Soon（很快）, ____. Chen likes Miss Green's class very much. He wants to see Miss Green again and wants to be her friend. He thinks English is his favourite subject now.
