Every night in Jinan University in Guangzhou, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}play diabolo (空竹) as a crowd watches in amazement.

    Chen Zhelun, 25, a Malaysian-Chinese started the diabolo club, which helps to increase the popularity of this traditional Chinese game. He is one of many students expressing their interest in the country's cultural heritage (遗产) by {#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

    The diabolo, which came from China, is popular among Chinese living in Malaysia.

    "We played diabolo from primary school onward. I thought I could find someone {#blank#}3{#/blank#}in China, but only a few students knew about it. So I started a club to develop it," says Chen.

    To Chen's surprise, the old game has interested a huge crowd—more than 1,000students have joined the club.

    "It {#blank#}4{#/blank#}and it's fun," says Chen.

    But some prefer quieter activities. Every weekend, one classroom in Shenzhen University is always crowded, but it's unusually silent. The members of Lanting Calligraphy Club are writing Chinese characters with traditional brushes.

    As head of the traditional Chinese local operas club, Kong Yanquan plans to put modern elements (元素) into traditional culture to get students to join his club.

    "I think it's everyone's duty {#blank#}5{#/blank#}China's traditional culture among young people," he says.

Asking for Help

There might be some problems or worries in life

Parents should stop blaming(责备) themselves because there's not a lot they can do about it. I mean the teenager problem. Whatever you do or however you choose to deal with it, at certain times a wonderful, reasonable and helpful child will turn into a terrible animal. I've seen friends deal with it in all kinds of different ways. One strict mother insisted that her son, right from a child, should stand up whenever anyone entered the room, open doors an d shake hands like a gentleman. I saw him last week when I called round. 

Sprawling（懒散地躺） himself on the sofa in full length，he made no attempt（尝试），and his greeting was no more than a quick glance at me.His mother was ashamed. "I don't know what to do with him these days，"she said."He's forgotten all the manners we taught him."

He hasn't forgotten them.He's just decided that he's not going to use them.She said that she would like to come up behind him and throw him down from the sofa onto the floor.

Another good friend of mine let her two daughters climb all over the furniture，reach across the table，stare at me and say

"Where did we go wrong？"her parents are now very sad.Probably nowhere much.

At least，no more than the rest of that unfortunate race，parents.

Here are four students talking about their dreams.

Let's take a look. My dream is to become a doctor, helping sick people and saving their lives. I hope everyone can have a chance to receive wonderful treatment (治疗) for their diseases. Enough knowledge and rich experience are both important for my dream. To realize it, I must work hard to improve myself.

Since I entered middle school, I have wanted to be a translator. I'll translate Chinese into English so that foreigners can enjoy Chinese poems and stories. Becoming a translator isn't easy. It takes great patience and confidence. I hope to go to college and be a real translator one day.

I am Alice. My sister and I spent our last summer holidays with our uncle who is a   geologist(地质学家) and loves to collect stones.

 One day he bought us two backpacks and asked us to go to the mountain with him. We walked the whole day. Every now and then he put stones in our backpacks. To our surprise, he also took some stones out from them. But we thought he had just found better stones.

 When we returned to the house, we were very tired. The backpacks were so heavy that we felt relief(轻松) when we took them off. Yet our uncle's backpack was half empty.

" Why did you give us so many stones?" we asked.

"I didn't. You did." he said." You didn't know it, but I gave you a little attitude(态度) test today.I listened to every word you said. Whenever you were complaining(抱怨),I added a stone to your backpacks. Every time you talked about something with positive(积极的) thinking, I took out a stone. And now look at your backpacks."

 Our backpacks were full of stones.

" Your negative(消极的) thoughts are just like stones. You carry them____in your mind just like those stones in your backpacks. The more negative thoughts you have, the heavier your mind will be." said our uncle.

 With great love, our uncle taught us one of the most important lessons in life— the power(力量) of the attitude.

In the morning, we have four classes. At 8:00, we have the first class. It is always maths, English or Chinese. My favourite subject is maths. Why? Because I love numbers very much. The second class begins at 9：00. After the class，we have a break（课间休息）. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}The next two classes are from 10:00 to 11:45. And then we have lunch in the school dining hall at 12:00. I like to eat food there. In the afternoon, we always have PE, art or music. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} In the PE class, I can play sports. How interesting! Our classes finish at 4:00. Then we can go home.
