Dave is my friend. His family is rich. His parents always give himlots of pocket money(零用钱). But Dave thinks his parents work very hard and it's not easy forthem to make money, so he always tries to save money. He has some good ways todo it.

Dave likes books. He tells me he often buys books online, because they'recheaper. And when he is free, he often goes to bookshops to do some reading. Davehas a bike. He usually goes to school by bike instead of(代替) taking a bus. Sometimes whenit rains or snows, he walks. These two ways help Dave keep healthy and savemoney.

Dave brings a bottle of water to school every day. When others drinkjuice, he enjoys water. He says water is the cheapest and the best drink.

Some students think Dave is mean(吝啬的). But I don't think so. I think he is right.

Do you like fishing? Have you ever put a fish back into the water after catching it? What made you decide to do this?

One day, two fishermen were fishing in a pond（池塘）. Both of them were looking forward to getting a big catch. The first fisherman caught a big fish in a few minutes. He was very happy. He put the fish in his box. He would cook it in the afternoon. Soon the second fisherman also caught a large fish. However, he threw it back into the pond. Later, he caught many more big fish, only to throw them back into the water again and again. 

The first fisherman was surprised. "Why are you throwing the fish back into the water? They are beautiful and big!" The second fisherman answered, " l know they are big, but I don't have a pan(锅)that is big enough to cook big fish! I'm looking for a small fish that fits my cooking pan.

The first fisherman was surprised by the answer. He told the second fisherman that he could just cut the big fish into small pieces to fit them into the small pan. 

Many of us are just like the second fisherman. We don't think carefully and this sometimes causes us to lose chances.

② Daddy has smart hands that can make lots of paper toys for me to play with. His hands can also make my hair beautiful. That's why I feel happy when other students talk about my hairstyle. I keep it to myself for years. What's more, his hands can paint a second-hand bike to look new. I get one on my tenth birthday. His hands can cook a delicious and colorful meal in minutes. I feel interested in watching his hands work. 

③ Daddy's creative hands are also useful and hard-working. They can fly a kite high in the sky and get it down from the top of a tree. They can wash my white dress clean, which becomes my favorite one. To my surprise, those hands could feed seven children after Mom died (死亡) . It is his feelings that show what he really is, far more than his abilities (能力).

④ Not only are Daddy's hands great, they can also send me a note full of love. When I am ill, he makes me feel better. He will take a small blanket (毯子), warm it up and put it around my small cold feet with his loving hands. They seem to know I am feeling terrible before I can cry (哭). When I am worried about something, Daddy will often hand me a cup of hot milk and sit next to me. He will say, "The best is always to come, my dear."

⑤ The more I read Daddy's hands, the more stories I get from them. Daddy's hands are fantastic. They have the knowledge (知识) and power to move mountains. They make the impossible possible (可能) .

If you lose 12 times in a row(连续地)，will you give up ? Dale Carnegie, a pioneer in public speaking and self-development., kept trying , And he showed people how to be successful.

Carnegie was born into a poor family in the United States. The boy didn't see a train until he was 12 years old. In his teens, he had to get up at 3 a.m. every day to milk cows for his family;

When Carnegie first entered college, he felt upset because of his worn-out clothes and common looks. His mother encourage him, "Why not try to be better in other thing instead of just dress and good looks?"

In order to share his success, Carnegie opened schools and wrote books. His best-sellers include How to winFriends , Influence people, How to stop worrying.More than 50 million copies of his books have been translated into 38 languages. They are still helping people on the road to success.

One day，a student asked his teacher，"What is greed（贪婪）1 ，but asked the student to walk through the chocolate2 next to their school and pick out（选出）the3 chocolate bar he could find. But there was a rule：as he passed through the factory，he could not turn back.
