The adobe dwellings (土坯房)  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}  （build）by the Pueblo Indians of the AmericanSouthwest are admired by even  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} most modern of architects and engineers. In addition to their simple beauty, what makes the adobe dwellings admirable is their  {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (able) to “air condition” a house without  {#blank#}4{#/blank#}( use) electric equipment. Walls made of adobe take in the heat from the sun on hot days and give out that heat   {#blank#}5{#/blank#}( slow) during cool nights, thus warming the house. When a new day breaks, the walls have given up their heat and are now cold enough  {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(cool) the house during the hot day;{#blank#}7{#/blank#} the same time, they warm up again for the night. This cycle       (go) day after day: The walls warm up during the day and cool off during the night and are thus always a timely offset(抵消) for the outside temperatures.     For those {#blank#}1{#/blank#} have seen War for the Planet of the Apes, it's easy to come to this conclusion-the movie isn't about war or the planet, and it's not {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(necessary) even about the apes. The movie is about {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(survive) and the choices we all make when one wants to survive, good or bad.

    With a story that should have been full of conflict and violence, it takes a different approach. You may find {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(you) exposed to small pockets of action. While recent sci-fi movies have become {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(know) for their action and scenes, War for the Planet of the Apes has taken science fiction {#blank#}6{#/blank#} a thoughtful and intelligent direction.

    War for the Planet of the Apes may not be the action and monster film that you had in mind, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} it's the kind of film that will make you want to sit in silence in the theater for a few minutes after it ends, taking in {#blank#}8{#/blank#} you've just witnessed.

    The few movies that have that effect {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(be) usually about humans, but this film enables people {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(feel) that way about apes. And that is what makes it a masterpiece.

    Recently I failed an exam. However, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}I came out of my teacher's office, I told myself, "Smile! It's not so serious."

    I smiled a big smile and it {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (work) a little, really.

    Everyone gets {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (frustrate) sometimes. I used to be always influenced by pressure and I was often in low spirits. But one day I came {#blank#}4{#/blank#}a sentence in the Bible, "Do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself, let the day's own trouble be sufficient for the day."     On October 23, 2018，President Xi Jinping announced the opening of  the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) at an opening ceremony in Zhuhai, Guangdong province.

    The HZMB, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (locate) at the waters of the Lingdingyang of Pearl River Estuary, is a huge sea crossing, linking Hong Kong and Macao to the Chinese mainland city of Zhuhai. As the world's {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (long) sea-based project, the 55-kilometre bridge is the result of five years of research and another nine years of building. It has been described as one of the “seven {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (wonder) of the modern world” by the Guardian.

    The project{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (make) up of a 22.9-kilometer-long main bridge, a 6.7-kilometer-long tunnel and an artificial island off the bridge. It is designed with {#blank#}5{#/blank#} service life of 120 years. It can withstand a strong wind equal {#blank#}6{#/blank#} a maximum Beaufort scale 16. The bridge's engineers had to consider many environmental factors to protect the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (surround) environment while building the bridge. Chinese white dolphins, an endangered species that lives in the area, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (be) a particular concern.

    The HZMB will make {#blank#}9{#/blank#} much more convenient to travel between the three areas it connects. It will bring people in Hong Kong, Macao and Guangdong within a “one-hour living circle”, {#blank#}10{#/blank#}is expected to attract more visitors to the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It will be a transport link as well as a social, economic, cultural, and tourism connection among the three areas.

    Man Kaur started running in 2009, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}she was in her 90s and began racking up medals. At 103, Man Kaur is not only going strong, she's getting others to follow in her footsteps as well.

    India's oldest female athlete is spending her summer {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(coach) 30 young athletes.
