The local elementary school had just let out and I found myself behind a school bus as I was driving home. The bus stopped by a house {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (stand) on top of a hill. A little girl no more than seven years old jumped down the bus steps and{#blank#}2{#/blank#} (start) running up the driveway toward the house.

    I looked up the hill to see {#blank#}3{#/blank#} she was going and saw her Dad waiting for her. As she got closer and closer her Dad smiled and bent down to greet her. When she got to him, he folded her in {#blank#}4{#/blank#} powerful arms and gave her a huge hug.

    My eyes watered a bit as I watched this scene and remembered all the times {#blank#}5{#/blank#} my own children had ran into my arms with {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (smile) faces. Every single hug from them {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (be) a fountain of youth and a treasure of joy .

    My lovely trip down memory lane was interrupted when I heard the car behind me sound its horn (喇叭). I saw {#blank#}8{#/blank#} school bus quickly pulling away. I started to follow it again with a {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (light) spirit than I had before. I took that beautiful moment and stored it {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (safe) in my soul where I knew it would remain forever.

    It feels great when you make someone smile.

    My neighbors are a senior couple {#blank#}1{#/blank#}are always full of positive atmosphere. They have a little basil plant at their lobby（门廊）area, and it {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(water) by the husband, Mr Green,{#blank#}3{#/blank#} (regular). He prays and takes care of it like a small baby. The weather is extremely hot now, so he spends so much time with it.

He smiled at the gate {#blank#}9{#/blank#}told his wife, “See, every plant of ours is still fresh and green.” My grandmother responded that it might have been because of all your love for it.     In much of Asia, especially the so-called "rice bowl" cultures of China, Japan, Korea, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Vietnam, food is usually eaten with chopsticks.

    Chopsticks are usually two long, thin pieces of wood or bamboo. They can also be made of plastic, animal bone or metal. Sometimes chopsticks are quite artistic. Truly elegant chopsticks might {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (make) of gold and silver with Chinese characters. Skilled workers also combine various hardwoods and metal {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (create) special designs.

    The Chinese have used chopsticks for five thousand years. People probably cooked their food in large pots, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (use) twigs(树枝)to remove it. Over time, {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the population grew, people began cutting food into small pieces so it would cook more quickly.

    Food in small pieces could be eaten easily with twigs which {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(gradual) turned into chopsticks.

    Some people think that the great Chinese scholar Confucius, {#blank#}7{#/blank#} lived from roughly 551 to 479 B.C., influenced the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (develop) of chopsticks. Confucius believed knives would remind people of killings and {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (be) too violent for use at the table.

    Chopsticks are not used everywhere in Asia. In India, for example, most people traditionally eat {#blank#}10{#/blank#} their hands.
