When Jason's parents saw him for the first time, they were very surprised. This lovely little baby was born disabled. But soon the young couple accepted this fact: Jason's arms are just half without hands and his legs aren't fully grown either.

At the age of six, he told his mother he wanted to get down from the prosthetics(假肢)and play with other kids. This was the last time Jason had worn them. He now has an electric wheelchair(轮椅), but he never uses it at home or when it is easy for him to move using only his body.

Jason learned handwriting and colouring at school, holding the pen between the ends of his arms. He also learned to eat with forks at home. When he was ten, he fell in love with football. He never had a pair of shoes because of the shape of his feet. He only wore socks on the football field. He never won a match, but he refused to give up. His strong arms and body, as well as some fantastic ways made him a respected player on the school team. He went to a famous university after high school.

Now Jason still faces many hardships in life, but he will make you believe that you can do what he has done. "Never be afraid of any difficulty," Jason often encourages others in his speeches.

(1)、Why were Jason's parents very surprised when they saw him for the first time?
(2)、When did he fall in love with football?
(3)、How did Jason learn handwriting and colouring at school?
(4)、What does the underlined word "hardships" mean in English in this passage?
(5)、What should you learn from Jason?

According to the traditional Chinese customs, 2019 is the year of Pig, ranking as the twelfth animal in the Chinese zodiac—the Shengxiao. Many people believe that pigs are naturally fat, lazy and dirty. But are any of those things true?

    Use

It is true that pigs are fat. They eat a lot. But they are useful to us. We get more than just pork from pigs. We can use their skin to make shoes. We can use their hair to make brushes.

    Not stupid

People sometimes say: "You are as stupid as a pig." But pigs are not stupid. In fact, pigs are one of the 10 smartest animals. They can remember things well and tell different shapes apart. Many experts think pigs are easier to train than dogs or cats.

    Stereotypes

These stereotypes (偏见) of pigs often make us feel negatively about the animal. For example, if someone's room is very messy, we might say his or her room looks like a pigsty (猪圈).

    Ancient people's favorite animal

But people in ancient China really liked pigs. If someone had a round and chubby face, he or she was thought to be blessed (有福气的). People also believed the animal stood for (代表) wealth. Now most children have a piggy bank that they can use to save money.

What are pigs really like?
