Have you noticed these days the temperature is not so normal？The greenhouse effect（温室效应） is one of the reasons. 

How does it work？

A greenhouse is a building with glass walls. In the daytime，sunlight shines into the greenhouse and warms the plants and air inside. At nighttime，it's colder outside，but the greenhouse stays warm inside. That's because the glass walls of the greenhouse keep the sun's heat inside. 

The greenhouse effect works much the same way on Earth. Greenhouse gases in the air such as CO₂ hold heat like the glass walls of a greenhouse. During the day，the sun shines and Earth's surface warms up in the sunlight. At night，Earth's surface cools，giving heat back into the air. But some of the heat is kept by the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. That s what keeps Earth warm. 

How do humans influence the greenhouse effect？

Human activities are changing Earth's natural greenhouse effect. Burning fuels（燃料） like coal and petrol puts more CO₂ into our atmosphere. Too much of these greenhouse gases can cause Earth's atmosphere to hold more and more heat. 

What brings down the greenhouse effect on Earth？

Plants can help a lot. All plants—from big trees to tiny plants in the ocean—take in CO₂ and give off O₂.

But like all technology, cash less payment has some 6 as well. What happens if your phone gets lost or stolen? There are also times when your phone's mobile internet connection, 7 the store's internet connection, might not work

Not long ago, I went to a nearby convenience store(便利店)to buy some snacks. But when I got there, I found that the store's cashless payments didn't work and they could only 8 cash. I didn't have any cash with me, so I had to 9 and leave without any snacks. 

So although cashless payments are convenient, you should 10 carry a bit of cash in order to avoid any possible inconvenience. 

 Have you ever seen chipmunks (花粟鼠) ? They look very much like squirrels, but they spend much of their time on the ground. People name this animal chipmunk because they make the special chip - chip sound. There are as many as 25 kinds of chipmunks, and most live in North America. A wild chipmunk can live for 2 to 5 years.

 Chipmunks are very small, and they enjoy living alone. When they are two months old, they leave their mothers to live by themselves. They build their own homes and start collecting food there all by themselves. They do not like living or making friends with other chipmunks much.

 Unlike other hibernating (冬眠的) animals, chipmunks do not live on body fats during winters. They collect and keep food during summers and eat it during winters. In winter, they don't sleep all the way through the winter. They are light sleepers and wake up every few days to eat food.

 Chipmunks may not be as popular as pet dogs or pet cats, but they can be good ones. They can feed on many things from vegetables and fruits to nuts(坚果) and bird eggs. They sleep at night, so you don't have to look after them during night time. But you have to remember one thing— chipmunks have trust problems, so it takes time for them to become close to you.
